Hi, this is topic made to point your attention at support development in over a year.

Chamipons considered: Janna, Kayle, Sona, Soraka, Taric, Zilean.

All datas [dd-mm-year format] posted are based on posting on forum by Riot staff. I will try to compare each champion numbers with actual.

Janna: Relased 02-09-2009. Wish I could get really base stats of her.

First notes 17-09

  • Howling Gale
    • Increased Ability Power Ratio from .65 to .75
    • Reduced Maximum Charge Duration from 4 to 3
    • Increased Damage per second from 15/20/25/30/35 to 20/25/30/35/40
    • Increased Base Damage from 50/70/90/110/130 to 60/85/110/135/160
  • Eye of the Storm
    • Reduced Ability Power Ratio from 1 to .8
    • Increased Duration from 8 to 12

  • Monsoon now slows enemy units for 40% that re-enter the storm after being pushed out

Started off 275 damage at Howling gale (maximum channel with maximum level), knock-up time comparable with Alistar's Pulverize. 10 sec cooldown.

Zephyr- never was hard to balance. Wasn't touched at all, slight changes on cooldown.

Eye of the storm- Her true support skill. 24 damage at lvl 1 rank, 12 sec duration(same cooldown). Legit double kill at 1v2 lane as Janna. If I remember well, 24 damage was still in game, when Ezreal came out. At relase, buffed by Janna Ezreal required like 5 secs + a slight cc to kill everyone at lvl 1. This was asked to balance, and well done Riot, you did it well. Janna's shield was scaled to actual 14-23-32-41-50 values (24-30-36-42-48 before)

Monsoon- Started off 6sec duration, 140 hp/s, 0.25ap ratio. After 3 months, changed to 4 sec/ 210/sec/0,35 ratio. Use of this skill IMO makes biggest difference between Janna players.

June has been critical month for Janna. Straight 3 heavy nerfs. Reduced Howling Gale hitbox and air time, rebalance Eye of the Storm, giving less shield at all levels, and a scaling over levels. This patch, decreased duration/cooldown ratio to 2:1, down from 1:1, which is... huge. Monsoon- compared to her heal at start its now down to 150 with 0.7 over time ratio, compared to 210 hp/s and 1.4 ratio.


Post feedback here, if you want similar analysis for champions I noticed at start. It's quite time consuming, so I don't know if readers would admit it.
