This is why elo hell is so bad.

Every single person thinks that they must pick carry if they want to win, so the team ends up having 4-5 carries all the time with the last person (most of the time, me) having to pick tanks to save the team. Then when the team fail because guess what, 4 carries no cc I got flamed for being bad.

This is why I play carries and support. People need to decide what role they are gonna do before even picking a champion that way you have time to see who might change their role instead of throwing it off on the last person, of course this will never happen unless you are a 5-man premade. Duoing is really a stupid idea for solo que and defeats the purpose of SOLO QUE.....

lol... Lima Beans actually said that " it was a mistake to start everyone off at 1200 Elo for ranked play." They are most likely going to have a pre-season for Season 2 where you can have your ranked Elo based off of your normal Elo that you accumulate during the pre-season.

They should all start from zero and work their way up. I wish their was a way to grade on how well you played and things you did in-game that benefited the team regardless of win or loss while taking into account your other four team members.

lol, think about 5 people all standing there at Baron not attacking because they all wanna get that last hit for the bonus points awarded! That would be horrible.

You know, on my way from 1-30, I read numerous whining pages (ignored most) about "Elo hell."

I thought it was just players that were terribly bad (admittedly I did search some of them to see how they did.. they didnt look so bad) losing games.

Then I hit level 30. I've got paired with people that I'm surprised aren't just learning the game. It's absolutely ridiculous how big the mistakes and feeding these guys do.

I seem to do alright each game, unless there's such a massive amount of feeding on my team that I cant help but get steamrolled by the other team.

I don't declare myself a top tier player (how can I? I doubt I'll get out of this bracket and I JUST started) but I know enough about this game to not feed 8 or 9 times in 10-15 minutes.

Are there any plans to fix this, help this, or change all of this? I just started ranked and I'm already afraid to queue because I know I'll just get paired with some moron who plays twitch and opens in the middle of a team fight, or a trynd who wants to tower dive at level 4.

To be completely honest? I've encountered less idiots leveling my way up to 30. I cant believe some of these people even manage to wipe themselves

Having the exact opposite situation as you, I got less leavers in ranked than I had in normal. All my games are close, never had an entire steamrolled game before so I can honestly say everyone in my ELO knows what their doing, it isn't that high so I guess it might be luck.

Solution to your problem? Same as always, find a friend you can play with, try to be a carry and tank, those are usually key roles many fail at in solo.

Elo will never be based on personal performance. What it is based on is the number of games played. The more games played, the more likely that the person's Elo rating is closer to their actual skill level.

As the number of games played increases, the effect that feeders/afkers have on a person's overall rating become minuscule at best.

Since everyone gets these types of griefers from time to time, their effect is spread out over everyone's ratings.

Starting everyone off at 1200 is very problematic because the number of games played is 0. It was stupid for them to do this since we had such a long pre-season for which to generate Elo ratings.

I think Riot has learned the errors of their ways and that they will adapt accordingly in preparation for Season 2.

It would've been better if they had placement matches which basically has the effect of assigning starting ranked ELOs based off of normal game ELOs, but wont have the punishing effect on players who so happened to be experimenting/playing new champs in the last few games.

My problem with "Play tank" "Play carry" "Play carry + tank" and whatsoever is: Been there. Done that. Doesn't help.

Alone, I have played carries, hard-carries, supporters, tanks, offtanks, just about every role and ever of the champions I have access too. I have smoothened the team composition, I have ignored the team composition, I have randomed champions. It makes no difference. Sometimes we have no feeders and no leavers, and we faceroll, and most of the times, we got feeders and/or leavers, and my roles does not matter.

With my (well-playing) friend, we have tried tons of combinations. AD-Carry + AD-carry, AD-carry+AP-carry, Ad-Carry+supporter, AP-carry+supporter, Tank+AD-carry, Tank+AP-carry, tank+tank, tank+supporter, you pretty much name it. Sometimes we can faceroll and win 3-4 games in a row, but then we get THOSE teammates again and we lose 8 times in a row again with exactly the same champions and the same adaptive playstyle.

But yeah, if the elo converges against my true elo, then I guess, my true elo will be around 1100 to 1000, because it keeps bouncing between 1000 and 1200. Probably the penultimate goal of lol is to be frustrated by bad teammates to no end and I am just bad.
