If I understand you right... you can't. Smart cast makes the spell go instantly, so it would be impossible to show you the range indicators before it goes off.

There is an option to turn on range indicators when hovering over the ability icons, however. If that's what your asking its in the more options menu if I remember correctly.

To clarify: if you want to see, say, the edges of Veigar's Event Horizon ability to know where to instantly stun an enemy, after smartcasting it is too late to adjust where it's going as you have already cast the spell. If you want precise knowledge of the spell range, turn smart cast off and learn to use the spell. Eventually you will get the hang of the ranges and can go back to smartcast!

Rebind your spell keys to smartcast. Then turn on "smartcast range indicators" or something like that in the options menu. You should see the range indicator every time you cast the spell or hit the spell button with that option on.

There's a Smartcast Range Indicator option in the settings.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrr

you can hold down the button that you have it set to smart cast, and just see the distance then let go of the key while having your mouse over the area you want your skill shot. You don't need to put on range indicators....and if you don't want to use the skill show right click and let go of the key and it doesn't go off.
