If you want, you can post any specific questions you have up here - it can be hard to know what to ask at first though. League is a very intimidating game to start now, since there are a lot of mechanics and 115 champs...it definitely has a high learning curve.

For an absolute beginner, first things I would recommend to help you get started:

1) There are 10 champs that are free every week, and it rotates. Have fun, experiment, relax, and try to test out as many of the free champs as you can. Learning them will help you understand what playstyle and what champions you like, but will also help you learn what opponents are capable of.

2) Don't get discouraged. Until you learn, the game will be somewhat difficult. You can start by playing the tutorial and beginner-level Coop. vs. AI games (against bots, not human players) to learn the very basics of the game. However, the sooner you start playing against people, even though you may lose a bunch at first, the faster you'll learn!

3) Attitude is everything in League. Seriously...you'd be amazed how far you can get just by being an unconditionally positive and supportive team member. If things are going badly, it's okay...don't rage, don't argue with your team, don't insult them...if you want to have the best possible chance of winning, smile, take the good with the bad, and focus on doing your best.

4) Learn to "last hit" as early as possible. When you're in lane and you're killing enemy minions, only the person who gets the killing blow on the minion gets the gold. Gold = power since buying items is essential to your success. "Last hitting" is essentially being careful to use your attacks to finish off minions that are low on health instead. This is one of the core mechanics to the game, and the sooner you start practicing, the better you'll get!

5) If you don't know what items you should build on the champion you're playing, many sites like championselect.net have links to guides that will show you what items are commonly built. There are also "recommended" items in the shop, but these are sometimes kind of questionable.

Anyway, hope that helps you at least get started a bit.
