They are two different champs; one is a bruiser (Hec) the other is like the purest form of a tank (Naut). Either way, you shouldnt play them if you expect to pewpewjaxownage. Hec does a fair bit of damage, but he doesnt tank that well. Naut tanks amazingly, but his damage is so low that if you pick him without your team having much dps, youll fail.

Both are excellent initiators though. Hec ult is crazy for sieging towers because of the massive AOE fear. Then he has nice AOE dps. Naut isnt as easy an initiate, but he is beefy as hell and can also jump in first with his dps in tow. Naut wont give you the dps of Hec, but he has one of the best kits in order to protect your dps with (snare on hit, aoe MS slow, long range knockup, pullback hook), and with max CDR--which you aim to get--he can really peel stuff off your squishies.

Most tanky DPS will tear through Hecarim if they also have 4070 gold.

Depends on who it is honestly, and whether or not you can play Hecarim decently (which most people cannot).

As I said, do you save your Ult/E for when you have taken some damage and pop W? If not, don't expect to 1v1 pretty much anyone. If you realize that you can burst with W up, CC lock them, and heal yourself, you can 1v1 a lot of champs.

Nautilus is a jack of all trades. Hes a good pick in dominion built as a tank or AP. He can push down minion waves fast, can defend points well, has mobility with his Q as well as amazing CC. His ult isnt on a terribly long cd either.
On SR you can jungle him, play support bot lane, solo mid AP or solo top AP.
Naut is a super well rounded champ and is a blast to play.
