What champion/comp does Orianna counterpick?

The question is simple: when should I ever, seriously consider picking Orianna in a ranked game? I can't think of any standard mid champion that she directly counters. The only champion I feel she might actually trade decently with is Annie because of her range, but once level 6 comes.. The vast majority of mids if not all mids counter her. Hell. Even Heimerfriggindinger counters Orianna.

I've had success against ahri with orianna, and i would say also other skillshot champions because you can keep moving around/behind your creeps and still land skillshots while they can't.

I can't see Ahri losing to Orianna if Ahri has any ability to land her charm and Q at all. Orianna has a hard time dealing with pushers and Ahri can push lanes hard once she has a blue. Ahri's ult directly counters Orianna's as well.

ori is probably the best mid for zoning, anyone with skillshots will be easy game for her. I take ori mid all the time and I have very little trouble with anyone unless they have a high mobility: kassadin, leblanc, fizz, or kennen are my top 4 that I hate.

the thing with ori is her skills are very unforgiving if you make a mistake and place the ball in the wrong place the enemy can capitalize on the 3 or so seconds you cant attack. However, ori is very unique in that she can harass and farm as the same time. I always send the ball out and farm with my AA (ori's stacks with magic so it gets better as the game goes too) and anytime anyone gets near I shift the ball and dissonance for a quick burst + slow. If they got close enough I can AA.

her full combo attack + shockwave + dissonance can burst just about any mid down to a few AAs. I usually ignite and AA for a secured kill in case they flash but its not always necessary.

From my experience Ori makes a great counter for karthus (hes just silly), brand, morgana (yeah, morg gets turbo eaten by orianna. morg has to farm with her primary harass- soil, so when she runs up to drop it down turbo combo her since your ball can be far away and you hide behind minions from her snare), ziggs, even ahri has a tough time with ori.

the thing is, ori is a hard champ. I think shes probably the hardest to master in the game. For her to be a good counter (for anyone to be a counter) the player has to be proficient in the champ otherwise its free kills.

I loved the true ori, so I must ask, how the f are you zoning champs with higher range and burst?

Morgana? Any half decent morgana should be lolshielding your laughable damage and cc away and spellvamping the rest. A morgana lane is just farm till gank time for both. Morgana's ganks are stronger.

Karthus I can see Orianna doing ok against provided she can avoid his wall of pain. But then, Karthus is countered by a legion of stronger champions as well.

Ziggs? Just no. His range is longer and so is his burst.

Still not seeing a good Ahri lose to an Orianna.

Orianna is good against any low-mobility team (such as a Udyr jungler) because the speed boost on her ball is really significant

She doesn't count pick anyone. I win her in rank by playing careful and poke when I can. Use her shield to your advantage and punish them when they make mistake. Orianna strongest point is in team fight
