Hrhm I digged this thread up recently as I installed Ubuntu about a week ago but the problem is that each time I use the Sudo commands it asks me for a password, and I can't type anything, only enter works, then it says my password is incorrect (obvious) and I'm stuck.

I just used play on linux and it all worked fine (except for an item viewing but, but that is solved with a patch that play on linux offers).

Edit: You can't view the shop unfortunately, but all other features are there

It does take in your password, it just doesn't mirror it on the screen. It's a security feature. (It's harder to crack a password when you don't know how long it is.)

Maybe try turning down the graphics to fix the textures?

I have performed all of these steps, but like another user I did not have a previously installed version of LoL, I followed the link to get a new one but every time the installer begins to run it just freezes up and I have to force quit it.

I'm going trough the steps right now but i think the only way to get a version of lol is to install it on a windows box... maybe try a VM?

I successfully installed LoL using the PlayOnLinux method detailed here:
http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3341154

My experience using the PlayOnLinux method is on page 2, here:

This is a fix for "calculating differences..." at the end of the updating/patching process.

The issue has something to do with the "last_versions" file in the "RADS" folder.

I found a YouTube video (link below) that told me the file is possibly corrupt and to delete the file. The file on my system was empty (0 bytes), but I deleted it anyway. Still "calculating differences..."

I tried to run a repair from in the launcher/patcher, but it wasn't making any progress, still showing "calculating differences..." So, I closed the window.

I thought maybe if the last_versions file had some content, it might help the process, so I copied the same file from my Windows PC onto my Linux PC and then launched LoL... PROGRESS! There was now a download progress for a single file, and the progress bars and time remaining were actually accurate for once. Once the file finished downloading, the "PLAY" button lit up. I clicked it and there was the PVP.net Client window, waiting for me to login.
