Malzy has four really awesome AP ratios, two of them are AoE, and another is a soft aoe. He also has what is probably the scariest zone control ability in the game. His early and midgame are so-so, but once you develop enough mana to consistently pump out spells, you WILL be doing more damage in teamfights than any other nuker is capable of.

Fiddles silence is easier to use, but does much less damage. Annie comes with hilariously effective stun, but again, much less damage.

He is what he is. Pure damage with no escape and very limited CC for a nuker.

Malzahar IMO is just a piss poor character. Yes, Malefic Visions pisses me off (coming from someone who HATES facing a competent Malzahar in middle) and will cause me to call for ganks while I hug my tower, but other than that, what does he do? Stun himself while he 'Suppresses" the enemy so he can be oneshot by the enemy team?

His Q is the easiest thing in the world to dodge, it's a stupid skill and does no damage.
His W is countered by walking outside of it.
E is fine.
R is fine.. but lacks utility. If he could walk around while using it to suppress them it'd be a nicely needed buff.

That being said, I'm not a Malzahar, but to make him a better player, he needs a short rework.

Despite being almost completely useless in normal games, he is rape in all mid games.

His dot jumps onto their champions while their trying to fight, chipping some health away, and if they try to run away from a fight, just put this on them and if they die, it might pass on to another champ.

CotV is good for harassing since all 5 of them will be clumped up and cant see it coming.

Null zone is still mediocre, but you will be using it when big team fights happen or the enemy team clumps together.

Nether grasp is good if one of the enemies go after you or they try to escape. His voidling is still useless though

Combine him with ignite and clarity, and your good to go

First off, Malzahar is a very VERY viable caster atm. Hes just not an easy character. He has far more damage potential than most casters have atm in a team fight thanks to null zone (lets face it, in a team fight where your tanks are doing their job they can easily keep enemies inside this aoe).

Thanks to his high scaling AP ratios he doesn't NEED super high ap which affords him some flexibility on how you play, granted if you ever get a zhonya's ring and get up to 500ish AP + have the spell pen to boot you are gonna murder anyone you nethergrasp.

Eh dont wanna go to much into it, I just have to lol at all the people saying hes a mediocre character with bad abilities. Just have to know how to use them is all. I know its not like annie where you can 1-2-3 and blow up some random squishy. But with the right person behind the controls malzahar can decimate any champ in the game with little to no trouble.

Also) ghost/flash are the only viable summoner spells if you want to actually survive a gank.

I think Malzahar is a great chamion right now, He definitely takes some getting used to, but once you get his combos down he can nuke just about anyone, single or team fights.

Malzahar is a very good champ, so long as you know how to play him. Which many don't. He can kill most tanks with his nuke. He has second best silence in game, following chogaths. He can also be anti-caster assuming you are good at his silence which is his most difficult skill. at 400 ap(regular endgame) his null void does 12% of their health..a second. He has the hardest skill shots in the game no doubt.

I agree wholeheartedly. I recently picked up malz again after the release, and have been dominating quite regularly.

The biggest boost to malz was the cleanse nerf. Before, 3 out of 5 people on your opponents team at the least had cleanse, which destroyed most of malz usefullness.

Next to no one runs cleanse nowadays, maybe a few dps carries to knock off blind. So your ult is suddenly extremely powerful.

Rush rylais for a few games and then re-determine if malz is useless. Nullzone can destroy an enemy team late game - the slow is amazing, adding another few ticks per champ.

He's not a poor champ at all, just takes a lot of practice.

I think He needs a damage buff and his summon creatures need to actually be useful. I don't find them to be any stronger then a common creep and just as easy to kill.

You should take a closer look before you complain about how easily Malz's AOE abilities can be dodged..

In a team fight, you'll rarely find someone who is going to take 2 seconds getting off of a target just so they can avoid silence. On the other hand, if they do try and dodge that silence, you did just briefly remove them from targeting one of your teammates.

Also, if you make it to late game, Null Zone can do 15%+ of a target's health in damage / second. The AP ratios on his abilities are amazing.

If you're bashing Malz it's probably because:
a) you've played with people who used the hero poorly;
b) you don't want other people picking Malz because he's your main; or
c) you have no idea how the hero really works

In team fights, Malz helps out a lot. In 1v1 situations, he's ridiculously strong. If you're targeted, just use Zhonyas..
