@hohums
im just wondering if theres ever any openings for programming interns, or junior software engineer positions.
i sent an application for Player support specialist since ive got a strong customer service background but since im a CS student i'd rather work as a programmer.
i always mean to ask you, or whatayabrian but you guys are so elusive on the forums! (probably working too hard lol)
thanks in advance for reading

Out of curiosity- how long after one hypothetically put in their resume would they, hypothetically of course, get any sort of hypothetical reply?

Here is my understanding of the current situation.

There have been and Riot will in the future. However at the moment the ratio of Senior to associate / interns engineers on the game team is low. Therefore Riot are focused on senior engineers. We have about 8 senior game engineers and about 30 game engineers in total.

Riot does not believe its fair to bring in more associate engineers when we can't give them the education support they deserve to make them into strong engineers. However if we did find a particularly gifted associate / intern Riot may hire them... An example of this would be someone with extraordinary modding experience like Guinsoo.

We are strongly looking for senior and above game engineers so that we can hire more associate / intern engineers in the future. If you do fit this category I encourage you to apply and to also say hello to us at GDC if your going to be there.

I'm not sure about the platform and web programming teams hiring situation with interns / associates. These are great groups to get involved in as well. However I simply can't speak for them.

I can understand this. One thing I'd point out is that we have had a couple of game engineers come from other departments in the past. Although this is not something I'd count on.

Yeah I'm pretty focused lately although I read the forums every day. Finding threads that are easy to post in can be difficult for me given that most of the threads are not my field (professional forum trolling).

I don't work for HR so I'm not sure about this... but I believe that they get so many resumes that they can't reply to all of them. Of course a lot of the resumes don't fit the positions so, I'm not saying not to apply... just that they may not reply.

How much do they pay you for that? :P

I just got back a reply today to set up a phone interview for Riot. I am so incredibly excited!

After a bit of browsing I found 6 positions that I felt I met the requirements for and applied for them all. Just to work there (doing anything at all) is something I've been wanting to do for a long while.

Thanks for that information though, I won't hold my breath waiting like I have been lately. Nothing's going to stop me from keeping my fingers crossed though.

I had a thread asking about this, since I also applied to work at Riot over a week ago and haven't gotten a reply yet. But that's unfortunate to hear, it'd be nice if HR would clump all the rejected people into a pile and just send a mass rejection email. I really want to work for you guys, but if I'm not suited for the position I applied for, I'd like to just get a heads up and take my dreams elsewhere

Be patient. If there's anything I've learned from looking in to applying at Riot, talking to others who have, and actually going through the application process is that it can take a while.

As I'm sure you can imagine, they probably get boat loads of applications every day.
