I'm here in New Zealand. Surely if his utter **** went through it would affect New Zealand and any other country for that matter.

Because of this reason is there anything I could do from way over here? Surely if its going to affect everyone then everyone or every country should have a say right?

You may have heard that Congress is currently considering a bill called the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA. While SOPA has a ton of problems, there are some significant issues that I thought fellow gamers might want to know about.

I’m particularly concerned that SOPA might stifle the kind of innovation that brings us games we love, such as LoL. The bill makes it far too easy for angry competitors to sue good law abiding companies out of existence. It threatens any company or website that depends on user-generated content, even companies like Riot. Instead of coming up with great ways to keep making games like LoL even better, companies will have to spend their money hiring lawyers. That's why companies like Riot, who want to protect the games they create, are opposed to SOPA.

I’ve been working on alternative legislation that would protect the games companies create while also fostering innovation. But we also need you to call your members of Congress and let them know of your opposition to SOPA. This bill has a very real chance of passing, and it is up to all of who want to protect the Internet to take action. More information is available at http://keepthewebopen.com/. Please make your voices heard in this debate! I will be happy to respond to your posts below, and will check back every few hours today and respond to as many as I can.
First of all, kudos to you congressman. I prefer when my congressmen like non-jungle characters. It means you probably don't like ganking people and this is ALWAYS a bonus for an elected official.

This legislation is going to have unforeseen impact across the board. We are talking about everything from the way Firefox runs, to the core operations of DNS, to sending law enforcement after a kid who has music on in the background of his web feed. I mean, draconian and wrong-minded ideas are littered throughout it.

This looks like a bill formed by someone who wants to start hostilities with our world allies while at the same time giving their biggest supporters never-before-seen power to shut down their competition.

Riot was built on the idea of free being the best price for a quality game. They did it during one of the worst financial collapses of our time while their competition was churning out high-priced games of less quality. I'm glad to see them in the front on this one.

Thanks for posting Mr. Polis!

Yeah can't we Canadians send an angry army of lumberjacks over and seize the White house again? Then make it so all the American boys and girls could play online with us. :3

I can't help you guys directly being from Australia but I will spread the word out as much as I can so that other Americans can at least hear about this BS. I sense a great negative ripple effect coming from this if it passes in your country.
