Serious question here.

Was helping someone with their phone the other day, and his background had a picture of Black Jesus carrying someone with the caption "He will carry you."

I'm not necessarily making a historical argument here, but why does he need to be black?

He's been white for nearly 2000 years in all depictions of him. What does it matter what skin color he is?

He would actually most likely have bronze, brown or tan skin considering where he was born. Also he would be pretty rugged conisdering he was a carpenter and his hair would most likely be short since long hair was at the time considered uncouth. In other words jesus was a manly man and the image of jesus today is most likely incorrect.

This is a manly man?

(This is the earliest picture of Jesus according to Wikipedia.)

They say that the one I posted was the earliest at 6th century, then they say this mosaic was 4th century.

Either way, not exactly a Grecian model.

If someone has a 'personal relationship' with Jesus, and Jesus is made up, why can't he look however they want him to?

Jesus wasn't white.

Jesus was black -- he smoked weed, called everyone 'brutha', and made First Century grape soda (aka wine) out of water. How much more evidence do you need?

Jesus was Jewish, and therefore would look about how a Jewish or Arabic person (considering the region Israel is located in) looks. Not white, and not black.

EDIT: Also, why does it even matter? He was alive 2000 years ago, shouldn't the message, not the color of his skin, be what is important?
