So when playing tank I never really thought about how much CS I should have because most people I lane with are good at last hitting, and it evens itself out. But today I was laning with someone who sucked at last hitting and I took like all the CS, then the person freaked out at me for taking the creeps. So just how much CS should I have as tank?

As many as you can get without denying the carry. Tanks need farm too otherwise you'll just melt.

a tank does need his items, with exception to alistar and leona who can survive with HoG and philo until midgame transition from a support to a tank when they get gold from assists/defending lanes.

which is why u see most tanks jungle or solo top these days.

If you're playing a support role, then you should be taking no CS (exception: lane partner can't cs worth a ****, in which case take all of it). If you somehow ended up in bot lane with a carry when you're not a support, just take some of it. If your carry complains, tell him that you need farm too.

Try to avoid being in such lane situations though. Most tanks and tanky champs are pretty good solo laners or junglers, and those that aren't are usually employed as support.
