When a champion is ranked as an assassin, what does that mean?
same thing for fighters, support, mage, and tank...

I'm fairly new to this game and I'm looking for a champion that can kill with normal hits, and doesn't depend on using skills. Champions like yi and vayne

if someone could tell me what those categories are and champions like yi and vayne, thank you in advance and thank you for reading

an assassin is someone who specializes in killing one person than retreating very quickly, lb twitch vayne kass.

fighters get in the face of the enemy and soak up damage while doing damage then get out when they get low, lee sin, garen, riven, irelia.

yi and vayne are carries. vayne is arguably the best carry in the game atm.

assassin means theyre good at picking off carries. fighters mean theyre good at taking damage while also dishing decent amounts out. support means theyre good at ghelping your carrys get the kills and/or farm. mage means they scale off ap and do damage in burst usualy. and tank is self explanetory. champs like vayne and yi would include any champion that has "carry" in their description. meaning most of their dmg comes from auto attacks

An assassin, is a champion that is about to be nerfed into the ground because people follow mobaguides and don't stray to build defense early.

A fighter, is a champion that is about to be nerfed into the ground because people don't realize that there are counters to atmogs.

Mages are champions that focus on their skills to deal the lion's share of their damage. They usually have no steroids (skills that boost auto-attack power). Mages can be melee (like Amumu) or ranged (like Annie).

Fighters are champions that strike a balance between skill use and auto-attacks for damage output. Some scale off AD, others off AP. They're usually pretty durable (or need to be built durable) since they're melee and need to be in the thick of combat.

Rangers are champions that focus primarily on boosting the power of their ranged auto-attacks through steroid abilities and potent AD items (Infinity Edge and co). They usually have some kind of long-range poke skill (Volly, Mystic Shot, Peacemaker, ect) though it isn't the main focus of their damage

A Support champion focuses on buffing their allies and debuffing foes rather than doing tons of damage. Support are usually Mages.

An Assassin is a champion with a mix of very high burst damage, very high sustained damage, some form of high mobility, and some form of focus-break to force the enemy team to stop attacking them. Their job is to murder a single target very quickly. Assassins can be Fighters, Rangers, or Mages.

A Tank is a champion that can Initiate (start a team fight) Anti-initiate (protect team members once the fight starts) and soak lots of damage. Mages and Fighters can both be Tanks.

A mage is a champion that is capable of dealing tons of damage as the game goes on. They are very vulnerable in close range, but can be extremely powerful late game.

Assassin is self-explanatory.

Assassins kill right? so.. that means that champion specializes in killing.

Mage use magic, Supports heal and buff and debuff, tanks can take a hit, think as fighters as tanks but with more dmg and a little less defense, ranged champs have range.

Google also works too,

Not much? Those tags are often wrong and are very general.

Usually, though, Fighters are people who are excellent at 1v1 fights, Assassins can rush in and take out single targets reliably in team fights regardless of protection, Supports are great at functioning with low farm and allowing someone else to farm easily, Tanks are good at initiating and surviving team fights while providing decent CC, and Mages lane well and have excellent AP scaling and, generally, a lot of burst and more utility than an AD carry.

And, of course, AD carries go bottom and farm forever because they scale so well, have range, and can rape everything after a certain point in time provided they are given the protection they need and have farmed properly.

Simple enough?
