What does AD/AS/AP mean?

It was mentioned above, but for the sake of not being impolite...

Attack damage is orange in tooltips and is used certain powers and usually (always?) auto-attacks. Characters listed as fighters and carries usually have more need for attack damage.

Ability power is green in tooltips and is used for certain powers. Characters listed as mages ordinarily have more need for ability power.

Ability power boosts how much damage most abilities do at a ratio that varies based on the skill (Veigar's ult scales at 1.2, while his q scales much slower), while attack damage is 1 to 1 ratio on auto-attack damage, and some abilities. (If you hit them with a physical object, its probably AD, if not you are probably scaling of AP.)

Ability power is the duration that a stun/effect might have. Damage is damage.
