So, I decided to try to broaden my horizons. I just unlocked ranked, so getting good with a few new types of champions is a good idea. So, I'm currently am looking at ranged auto-attackers. Of the ones I own, I particularly like Ashe and Caitlin. So I'm kind of curious as to what people think about them.

A little list of comparisons...

- Caitlin has better or equal stats in all areas except AS growth.
- Caitlin requires red buff to properly chase a champion, Ashe can just fire a Volley if they're too far for normal shots, and then pursue with Frost Shot on.
- Enchanted Crystal Arrow is hilarious, and does most of what I'd use Ace in the Hole for, and then some. I'm good with skillshots, so targeting isn't a problem.
- Peacemaker does much more damage than Volley, but Volley has no charge time and applies a slow to it's targets. It's also cheaper mana-wise after Peacemaker hits rank 3.
- Hawkshot provides a mini-clairvoyance on command, handy for lining up Crystal Arrows. Well placed Snap Traps can reveal enemies coming to gank you passively.
- Ashe's passive is superior to Caitlin's in any battle that doesn't go on too long, as the one guaranteed crit is better than +50% damage every 6-8 shots. Cait wins out in prolonged battles, especially if she takes the time to pre-charge her passive.

Overall, Caitlin seems to be better at combat, but Ashe adds great utility. I enjoy both of them, but I'd like to hear from people who play ranked what they think of the two.

Who is Caitlin?

Ashe does better damage late game and can actually initiate. Caitlyn is a lane bully and can push better and control her lane.

Caitlyn is easymode, aka not much fun cuz she takes no skill (traps, net, range). Idk why Riot tags Ashe as easy, when she is one of the more skill intensive ranged carries.

I prefer Corki and Tristana, with a little Graves or Vayne thrown in when I feel like I need a carry that isn't so item dependent.

You forgot, money comes from CS, and hawshot gives extra gold

Might be a little, but it adds up

Given that Hawkshot is the last skill to level, it probably doesn't mean too much. Still, the skill itself is pretty handy.

Anyway, I enjoyed playing Ashe more, so I'm glad to know she seems to be the more popular choice. Guess I'll try her some more.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I rarely see Ashe in normal fights, compared to Caitlin, who is a reasonably common champion. This is despite Ashe's incredibly low cost, and Caitlins top tier cost. That's got me a bit surprised. Are there any other champions that see heavier use in Ranked than in normal? (Besides the tendency for less jungling and support in normal)

Ashe has initiation, that is about it. Cait is stronger in almost every other area. Ashe is one of the weaker lanners of the range carries and laning phase is the most important time for them since farm is soo important.
