Hi, you can call me Cattacus. I'm fairly new to the lore section and I'm interested in getting into some of the Roleplays here. The only issue is that, not knowing much about Valoran's cultures and histories, I'm a bit leery of making a character on my own.

Are there any kindly Rp veterans who would be willing to help guide me through this process? Or even just any advice from the community in general?

Thank you all in advance for your assistance!

Well, if you want to know more about Valoran's cultures and such, good places to go would either be the LoL wiki, the Lore section in the learning center, or Sylph's magnificent thread here: Ta Daa~

As for starting an RP character, first thing to do would be to make a profile of them on here: http://summoners.shurelia.com/

Second thing(s) would be to take a look at some of the guides which float around. Two really good ones are:
K.D Bonez Guide to Not Being an RP Noob: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/...d.php?t=344760
Catspaw's Roleplaying Tips: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/...d.php?t=440047

Then once you get the gist of RP there, you're welcome to join any of the RPs currently open. I, myself, have actually made a thread for Novice RPers called "Shenanigans and Cookies" which you are more than welcome to join. That can be found here: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/....php?t=1299024

Jaykoboy has recently started 2 threads which both accept novice RPers also, if you want to join those instead:
Beyond the Veil: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/....php?t=1318820
The Vengence: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/....php?t=1334369

Some one else might have better suggestions than I do. But either way...

Welcome to the Lore Forums!

I was going to recommend my RPs to Cattacus, but you beat me to it, Silverling. Thanks!

These are all good links to get you started. There's also places such as RoarChat.net which use a somewhat different style of chat-based roleplaying. A bit loose, fairly welcoming to noobs so long as you don't go stomping along.

Since I'm assuming you're going to make original characters, you'll likely want to make a character here:

http://summoners.shurelia.com/

That's the RP character database, a basic look-up for whenever you see someone. Remember that reading their bio doesn't mean your character does!

A good thing to have in hand though is definitely a Sue Litmus test. I don't know if any of Silverling's links had a Litmus test attached, but it's generally a good baseline for newbies to know where their characters sit as far as Sue-ism goes.

This is one I had in my bookmarks folder, so I'm assuming that it's at least passable.

If you have any questions, I'm sure anyone here would be glad to answer 'em. I'll try and keep an eye here.
