I like the idea, so long as the flag caps your movement speed and you can't use flash like mechanics.

To all the people saying X champion would be OP in Capture the Flag.

"You cant use skills while carrying the flag, your movement speed cannot exceed 300(or another number, depending)"

I would like a Capture the Flag mode.But they really need to heavy analyse WSG, it took them many years perfecting that mode in WoW.
And probably we should just give the SR whiny kids their Magma Chamber first.
Or we could have Payload mode so Mundo can say "Little cart will not push itself" :P

Before that, we need an Arena mode with no other objectives besides "kill the other person." So all the "1v1 me at Baron NOOB" and the deathmatchers in Dominion can have somewhere to brag about their killing skills.

What if the flag wasn't a flag at all but some kind of magical macguffin that proceeds toward your base at its own rate? That'd fix the questions asking what to do about TF/Pantheon (nevermind, of course, the concept of any other champion just recalling since you can't wrap your head around certain things causing the flag to drop) or MS-stacking champions.

Granted, this isn't CTF, but a little bit of deviation never hurt anyone, right?

Meh, would just turn into a turtle fest IMO. You'd need other major objectives on the map to discourage never leaving the base.

How about this?
Movement speed capped at 400.
Any blink or teleport effect drops flag.
There could be potentially 2 or 3 flags for each team.
Flags give vision of whoever is holding it.
Flags spawn 5 minutes after being capped.
3 flags to victory
Respawn point kinda far from flag spawn areas.
2 or 3 lanes with normal creep.

You could just make a rule on the flag where you couldn't use teleports with the flag preventing Shen, TF, and Panth. Besides there are too many mobile champs that are impossible to catch with their speed enhance abilities and they would need to ban phantom dancers.

The amount of CC and mobility in League of Legends would make CTF a nightmare to balance.



Scenario 1 - No restrictions

Twisted Fate gets the flag, uses Destiny, Team A wins. Tons of champions can easily escape with dashes, blinks, or teleports that make it impossible to catch them.


Scenario 2 - No movement abilities while carrying the flag

You gets the flag, but cannot use any of your abilities while holding it.
Skarner shows up, pulls you back into his team who try to murder you while your allies 4v5 the enemy.



The majority of champions here are made for magical guerrilla warfare. Not retrieval missions.

While I would LOVE to play Capture-the-Flag on a League of Legends setting, it's not something I can see being balanced.


And before anyone suggests "What if we have assigned roles? Like: Only the chasers can hurt chasers and Flag-bearers can... etc etc" - This would cause a whole new mess of balance problems based on how well certain champions match up against others and would be completely inconsistent the current two modes where everyone has fair shot with at least damaging and fighting one another.

TL;DR - Nice thought, but would be impossible to balance

No if they cap the flag and use ult to tele = drop the flag...

Also, could make a rule that their ults can't go off if the other team has your flag past a certain point. (Eliminates dying then insta goingto thier flag.)
