I just played a ranked game where I was Vladimir and I played against an AP Tryndamere.

It was quite frustrating because I did not know that Tryndamere's [E] Skill (the spin) could damage me while I was in pool.

Has this always been the case?

I dont play vlad, but when you're in pool form, you take damage from AoE spells still, right? Malz pool, cass miasma, stuff like that?

Tryn's spin counts as an aoe spell, its just rectangularly shaped. It deals damage to whatever he passes.

From a logical perspective you would think it wouldnt hit though.

Actually, Vlad's pool dodges most AoE spells such as Nunu's Absolute Zero, Amumu's Curse, and Ziggs' bomb. Notable exceptions are Thresh's Flay and apparently Tryndamere's E. I would think that "untargetable" means immune to AoE spells as well, so I think these exceptions are actually bugs.

DoT's and spells that start before Vlad pools still affects him though, such as Fiddlesticks' drain.
