just make the bot not give gold. it seems only reasonable.

How is that reasonable? Then the team would have an extra helper who the other team wouldn't benefit from killing at all.

Or a reduced amount of gold, and eventually (IF the bot is killed repeatedly) it isn't worth anything.

The team with 5 live players will still have the upper hand because 5 Live players is always going to be an improvement over 4 live players and one bot. Not like you can set up ganks with a bot or really instruct the bot in what to do.

Or perhaps an idea of a "Quick Queue"-Challenge

Where they set up another Queue option where a new player will enter a already live game. Their compensation is getting more IP for taking the challenge. The Challenge of course would be that they enter a game that already started and falling a little behind. - Perhaps the new players can start with the amount of global gold already distributed and the average level of his teammates. This would also be a good way for people who just want a seriously quick start in a game.

with the new diminished return on gold for killing same champ over and over... as long as the bot was incapable of scoring kills... this would be acceptable...

his deaths worth less than a minion

What if, after a certain time of afk, or right after a disconnect, your team was given a buff to compensate. It doesn't have to be as big as baron(or maybe it does, I'm sure there would be lots of tests to see what is fair) and it could probably scale off the average level of the team. This is the most fair thing I've been able to think of to account for a disconnect.

Zileas and others have written about this sort of thing before, but setting aside the fact that the AI might be problematic for this sort of thing: the reason you can't hand out compensation to a team with a leaver is that this will immediately be put to unintended uses.

If you're having a bad game, and there's some bot or buff that can be had for the team with the leave, you can bet that your team will demand that you leave so they can get the benefits. There's a strong temptation to compensate people who fall victim to flaws in the community (i.e. leaving) but this sort of solution would give the community license to behave even worse.

A better (but, unfortunately, slower) solution is simply to work towards reducing the amount of leaves in general, which is the purpose of LeaverBuster.

Intermediate bots are better than half the people you play with.

Or you could make it so all players can manually control the AFK champion, like in dota1

The biggest AI loophole has to be that it chases forever and dosen't know when to stop chassing and GTFO.

yes indeed.... AI does has its loophole,
since AFK leavers are so annoying, can RIOT just punish them harder ... to discourage their AFK behavior?
