The launcher doesn't crash on startup with the fixing of bug 28587:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28587

But the fog of war is still broken. Not sure if that's a bad thing though- permanent global clairvoyance!

Installed the ACE client smoothly, runs smoothly... and then I try to login.

"Server is busy. Try again later."

...But The server is NOT busy.

Anyone encounter this issue before?

Hey guys,
So after trying to download Microsoft Visual C+++ it gives me a "failed to download" from this extension http://browsers-us.mirrors.zensoft.net/ie/win32/6.0/ie60.exe I followed all the steps in the tutorial and the only thing I found weird was that I was downloading old stuff (IE6, etc.). I don't know if this has been an issue for other people but I would greatly appreciate any help, this is where I am stuck so far in the terminal http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z356/elvinblen92/th_Screenshotat2011-11-02060122.png Is there anything clearly wrong that I'm doing? or is Wine not able to run now, I know there was a patch recently.

Riot. Please Please PLEAAASE. Support atleast Ubuntu.

So I've just installed 1.3.3 WINE. And don't even know where to start with installigng LoL itself.

Now I do have Windows dual booted. But every time I log into it, I have to update security, and LoL. And the main reason I don't play LoL more often is because I don't want to reboot with Windows when I already have stuff running on Ubuntu. Don't wanna close it then after done playing, open it all up again.

Two bugs were fixed in the latest update to wine:

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24432
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28955

WInetricks ie6 is still needed, and I believe the fog of war bug is still persistent.

Also, if you people ever hit a bug in league of legends on wine, don't bug riot for a linux version. While that would be a favourable outcome, it takes much less effort and time for the wine team to fix the few bugs that break LoL. Make an account on the wine bugtracker and file bug reports. It'll get fixed faster.

Wish I'd read this before: http://unixblogger.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/actually-no-more-winelol-packages/

Quote:
Shortly, no! Actually there is no way to get League of Legends working under WINE anymore (even with the ACE Client, which is actually crashing when you try to play).

And later the same blogger says to keep checking and trying to get LoL working on linux.

I'm a programmer, I'm working on it. Could you grab the latest wine version (2.3.32) and give the official client a try? Post your results here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19141

3-4 bugfixes for LoL have been pushed to the development releases since the last entry. (2.3.29)

everytime I enter wineloldeps I get

/opt/winelol/bin/wine cmd.exe /c echo '%ProgramFiles%' returned empty string.

forgive me if this has already been brought up but I didn't want to read through the whole thread

Solution to the IE6 thing is here:
http://code.google.com/p/winetricks/issues/detail?id=118
tl;dr: Download to ~/.cache/winetricks/ie6/ie60.exe then run again. I haven't tested myself.
edit: nevermind, that fails at a later stage too. Anyone have any ideas?
edit^2: no, this did work. Installation successfulnull. Dunno what to do now though. How does one patch?
edit^3: Can get to main menu bit where you press the massive PLAY button. Then it hits a debug assertion when you actually try to initialize a game. Wait...where do we report crashes and stuff again? Might even try my own hand at a fix, though I don't have much experience in low level Windows stuff.
edit^4: Mismatched CoUninitializes Also, would there be any advantage to upgrading from Ubuntu 10.10 -> 11.x?
