I always go Armor Penetration runes with my AD champions, but i guess with Yorick Attack Damage runes are better right? Because of his passive...

IMHO, your minions are only for early game harass. I just solo'd top against Kassadin and Nocturne and just used Pestilence from afar (not even hitting them with the initial burst sometimes, because of Kassadin's silence ball harass) and they'd run from my little minion.

Take Exhaust and Flash. Flash in and smack them with Q, then they shouldn't be able to run far. If you can afford not to get Merc. Treads, I would go for Boots of Swiftness.

Back to the main topic, IMHO Armor Pen does more in the long run toward end-game, whereas flat AD is more for early game damage. Buy a Doran's Blade as your starter and see how far both runes take you.

Remember a point of armor makes a champ 1% harder to kill. Make balance of the 25 armor penetration that you're able to make with quint and marks than the 16 (aprox) bonus attack damage on yorick, maybe he have a lil' more damage burst on early game in ranged attacks.

Imo yorick is a better jungler, so armor pen marks, health quint, armor seals and mr per level glyphs.

Armor pen hasn't worked at all for me. The reason for this is because his W and E spells both scale off of AD, but deal Magic damage. I go with magic pen reds, mana regen blues/yellows for spammability, and flat hp quints, allowing me to stay alive longer. Max out E first, W second, Q last, but having a level in each by level 4. It dominates

Before the patch that was true, but right now I feel like i do better with AD or Armor Pen than with Magic Pen, im not sure...

See, the problem is that too many people don't understand that your damage is NOT coming from magic damage. The majority of your damage is Q, auto attacks, and Ghouls/Revenant.

If you are laning with Yorick YOU NEED APen

10 MPen is the equivalent of ~5% less damage reduction on your two (weak) nukes. Compare this to the 15 APen you COULD have which is equivalent to approximately 15% less DR (sometimes more) for ALL your physical damage including ghouls.

Maxing out W first is also more efficient, providing you with a relatively strong gap closer and AoE at a rather cheap cost (the majority heal from E comes from proper timing to allow the ghoul to damage).

QWEW is likely the BEST way to level yorick's abilities because of his lack of gap closer and reliance on farm to be effective. Play him as a wrecking ball, Ult yourself or your carry and target the squishiest target in range. Under majority circumstances your ghoul WILL attack what you attack (I've been testing in custom games). That means that with 3 ghouls and a revenant even WITHOUT defensive items (only health) you have respectable DR and good damage especially against squishies. That means that you become a high threat target for the enemy team when you play correctly.

In other words:

1) APen
2) Level your Gap Closer
3) Ult is not ALWAYS best on your carry
4) Play like a wrecking ball not a mage

edit: If you intend to jungle yorick I recommend Stonewall's newest video guide. In which he DOES use AD runes for both reds and quints. however that's for jungle efficiency not late game.
