not jungle yi that's for losers

AD Laning Yi, roll face everyday
Runes are whatever you want, ArPen Reds are good, defensive blues and yellows are good, don't take mana regen
Masteries can be 21/0/9 taking exp in utility, or 9/0/21 for more summoners and all the utility OP junk. Whichever you prefer to use is fine, as masteries should complement your playstyle.
I like flash/exhaust for summoners.
To open, take 2 faerie charms and some HP pots, and take a sidelane. The charms give you enough mana regen to use Alpha Strike on every cooldown for a long time. Take Alpha first; you need it to farm. Your skill order is Q W E W Q R, then R>Q>E>W. Two ranks in meditate will let you stay in lane forever; you don't need three. You take a point in E for a bit of damage, mostly to make last-hitting easier. Then the focus is on Q for more procs to kill minions. Farm up with Q, and don't harass too much, especially if you're facing ranged. For items, you want to build the charms into philostones ASAP, before anything else. This gives you pro regen for lane power, and the gold/5 helps a lot when you need to acquire midgame items.
Speaking of which, get boots1 after the philos, then complete a ghostblade, building avarice first. Some damage, arpen, and CDR, but the awesome active is good too and will help you all game, because it's percentage based. Use it with R to secure kills. After the ghostblade you want your finished boots. Merc Treads seems like a good choice, but as Yi you are dead if you eat any hard CC, so tenacity is just going to prolong the agony. Zerkers is not great, because with all the steroids on you will max AS anyway. Boots5 is a great choice, because you can roam around and gank or jungle very fast, and it helps with backdooring, one of your best skills.
After boots you get two Zeals. AS and MS and crit, oh my. Your E provides enough damage that you don't need a BF item. You will turn one Zeal into PD and the other into triforce- both provide great stats you need, especially triforce. Before that, however, get a banshee's. The health and MR will help a lot for taking on... anyone at all, and the sheild will prevent desperation stuns or anything like that.
Now you need to evalute the game. If the enemy team is magic-damage heavy, force of nature is a good idea for the MR and MS increase. If it's AD heavy, Frozen Heart and its armor and aura will save your bacon. But if your team is doing a great job with soaking up the damage and spells for you, more damage is a possibility- get bloodthirsters. Defensive items are usually a better buy, though.
Yi is a hard AD carry who will only get stronger as the game passes. Never be first into a teamfight- wait for the scary stuns and bursts to get thrown down, then run in with R and E and Ghostblade and kill the entire team in 3 seconds. If the other team is too smart for that, ignore teamfights and push towers. Using steroids you kill them really really fast. Pop out of nowhere as the two teams are poking at each other in mid and drop a side tower for free. With your speed and power you also control the jungle- get dragons, get buffs, do counterjungling and counterganking. Wards help.
It's time to Yi.
protip: use meditate to master-bait under your tower and get people to dive you and die. In fact master-bait all the time, because the resistances and health turn you into a five second tank. Just not in the middle of your lawnmower murder spree.

Jungling Yi is the only Yi worth having on a team, in my opinion.

However, I stopped reading at that disorganized mess of words you call a 'guide'.

Dude this guy is ****ing retarted. jungle yi and lane yi rape just as hard and u can vuild the same way jungle or lane. for jungle get armor 5 hp pots when u go back get madreds razor.after that u get lifesteal for a starks fervor. then focus your bloodrazor.after that you either finish starks or get black cleaver and if you have ganked atleast a little, money wont be a problem.By that time you will be getting quads 4v1 style all the time or they will have surendered or lost.

For laning yi its almost the same get q first and start with vamp scepter. When u go back turn it into emblem of valour then get your berserkers. I usally finish my starks then ill get a black cleaver or madreds bloodrazer in accordance with their team. Yi is item dependant so if you die alot it means your going to keep dieing....thats bad.

Im sure all Yi builds are viable in their own ways but the one major issue I see with this playstyle is the aggresive use of Q will tend to push your lane out and thus make you very vulnerable to ganks. Maybe pick up a ward+pot instead of only pots after your faerie charms

If you're going to be using Alpha that much you might want to invest in a Wriggle's, or at the very least a lot of wards.

Also paragraphs and organization are nice.
