Surrendering doesn't save anything in this game. It just accelerates the outcome of a single match.

Contrary to the popular belief you are wasting your time from the start when you decide to play a game. You won't waste it more or less by playing a game to the end instead of giving up in the first signs of difficulty to play another match of the same game.

Actually it could be argued that you will be wasting your time a lot more by playing 2 half matches instead of a full one, regardless of the results.

If you really want to go into it sometimes playing 2 half hour matches that result in surrender for a result of 90 IP > beat a hour match that results in 110 IP

I was in a game once (not a premade) and our team was completely owning. We had all of their turrets down, and we had an inner turret up in two of our lanes, the other was just an inhibitor turret. All of the enemy inhibitors had respawned and my team seems to be more interested in getting an amazing kdr rather than finishing the game. One of their people decided to go afk at 45 minutes, so someone on their team decided to create a surrender vote. It fails, because only one person voted no. He was a very bad player, and fed throughout the game. He let it slip by accidentally telling it to everyone that "[He doesn't] surrender because [he isn't] a (censored).

So for some people it might be a pride thing. rather than them actually thinking they can win.
