Intro

I have been playing Annie for a while now, and find her one of the best casters available and a great addition to any team. There are many ways to build her, from AP stacking, Tanky Annie, Support and for the lolz auto-attack Annie.

This guide will cover as a 'Support Ganky' Annie in the solo-mid lane, focusing on getting your spells off for your stuns to assist your teammates, or general annoyances with the chance of getting easy kills.

Runes

Quints: Greater Quintessence of Insight (MPen)
Marks: Greater Mark of Insight (MPen)
Seals: Greater Seal of Fortitude (HP)
Glyphs: Greater Glyph of Focus

+14.22 Magic Penetration
+48.15 Hit Points
-5.85% Cooldown Reduction

Reasoning:

The reason for going MPen over AP is because against any decent team, your opponents will more than likely get BV or any other MR item to just counter you, because you can deal MASSIVE burst damage at times.

Hit Points for early game. You can swap these for any other survivalbilty Seals I guess, but I prefer +HP for those early surprise ganks right at the start of the game from side lanes, and giving me more HP to stay in the lane.

CDR obviously because thats what we are basing this build around, getting off your spells as fast as possible to get your stun up to harass the enemy team.

Abilities:

Ignite: Very good spell throughout the game, for getting those pesky champions who get away with 30hp or so. Also used to help with first-blood.

Flash: A MUST. Annie has no escape mechanics other than spamming spells to get her stun and then stunning a champ for running. Flash helps when needing to position for teambattles, escaping chasing heroes and also helps with first-blood.

Masteries:

9/0/21

Offensive Tree:
1/3 Deadliness
3/3 Archmage's Savvy
4/4 Sorcery
1/1 Archaic Knowledge

Utility:
1/3 Good Hands
3/3 Perserverance
2/4 Awareness*
4/4 Expanded Mind
3/3 Meditation
3/3 Quickness
1/1 Blink of an Eye
3/3 Intelligence
1/1 Presence of the Master

*Can be swapped for Utility Mastery if you intend to go for Golem buff a lot, but I use it to catch my opponent by surprise when hitting level 6 early, to flashtibbers them.

Items:

Item Build Order:
Start Items
1. Faeri Charm, Rejuvenation Bead, Health Pot

2. Amp Tome > Haunting Guise
3. Boots > Sorcerer's Boots

4. Amp Tome + Meki Pendant > Fiendish Codex
5. Amp Tome > Kage's Lucky Pick

6. Kage's Lucky Pick + Fiendish Codex > Deathfire Grasp

7. Sapphire Crystal + Ruby Crystal > Catalyst

8 .Blasting Wand + Amp Tome + Giant's Belt > Rylai's Crystal Sceptor*

9. Blasting Wand + Catalyst > Rod of Ages

10. Empty slot for whatever you need

*Adjust to needs, grab the Belt first if your struggling with survival, if not go for the pewpew option.

End Build:
Haunting Guise - CDR and HP/Mana regen at early game, a very nice item.
Sorcerers Shoes - MPen, to counter any enemies who get MR also for the speed of course.
Deathfire Grasp - More CDR, and obviously a nuke for the enemy's tanks.
Rod of Ages - Everything. With this build you are short on mana, you always need more HP and more AP is always nice.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter - Slooooows, you can kite an enemies team with this very easily

Others:
For the last slot, you can get anything really. Here are some options:

Banshee's Veil - For when the enemy has a disable heavy team, can get this very early as well due to already building a Catalyst for mana and health.

Mejai's Soulstealer - Always nice, but only get if your confident enough to get the stacks and keep them. Otherwise its a waste of gold.

Void Staff - Enemy team stacking mass MR, this is the item to get.

Archangel's Staff - Plenty of mana, and also a AP boost if you want more.

Zhonya's Ring - Mana and lots of AP, a nice item if you want more of a bang from your spells.

Reasoning:

With this item build, your maximize your CDR, meaning you can spam your spells very often and spit out those stuns, and also helps you get Tibbers up very quickly.

Grabbing Faeri's and Beads first is always nice, if your getting mega-harassed just step behind your creeps a bit and wait for your HP to regen, no need to go back to the town to heal if your very careful. Also if you do screw up on your disintegrates and lose mana, you have a mana regen item straight away.

Obviously this isnt a 100% build order, but near enough. If your getting targeted to often by disables grab a BV to counter it. You get plenty of survivability with it and a nice buff.

Even without tanks in there group, the stats from Deathfire Grasp make it worthwhile to grab, for the mega-CDR and also for more AP, Mana Regen etc.

Skills:
Tibbers > Disintegrate > Incinerate > Molten Shield

This is a solo-lane build! There is no reason to get Incinerate as your first spell and stack up your stun. You are more than likely not going to be able to get first-blood at level 1 solo, do not waste farming potential!

If you wish, you can get a level in Molten Shield early to help stack your stun. But in my experience of playing Annie, you have plenty of chances to get your stun quickly before a teamfight without it.

Strategy:

Early Game (1-6)

Farm Farm Farm. You have Disintegrate for a reason, last hit every creep you can. Once you get your stun attempt to hit your enemy (If you manage it, you can hit him twice with auto-attack before stun wears out), don't put yourself at risk though, and don't save your stun forever! If you cant hit the enemy, get back to last hitting creeps!

When your a creep away from getting level 6, make sure you have your stun stacked and as soon you level ALT+R and flash near your enemy and combo him. Otherwise your enemy expects a flashtibbers to come and has there hand on there flash/cleanse/whatever to counter you. Catch them by surprise! (Make sure to plop Ignite on them aswell so they dont get away!)

Your goal here is to put back there solo-lane advantage, and give yourself an advantage to go gank.

Mid Game (7-12)

By now you should have your Haunting Guise and your Boots. You can easily get your stun up quickly and Tibbers off CD pretty fast, so you should be running about trying to get stuntibbers on potential side lanes/mid.

If there is no potential targets, don't sit in a bush waiting for them! Get back in a lane and carry on farming, watching for ganks and potential victims! You should either be ganking a hero, or be farming/pushing a lane.

This is the best time to gank people, because they are still in the process of farming to get there items and leveling up still! Take your solo-lane advantage and slow them down even more.

Late Game (13-18)

By now, most people have there basic items and are looking to kill heroes! Keep on ganking potential victims (Specialy the ones farming a side lane to play catch-up/whatever). Be watching your map all the time, and look out for team ganks!

If the enemy team start five-man roaming, they are more than likely going to come for you because you should have been pissing them off the whole early/mid game. When this starts happening, get your team together and counter there five-man roams!

At this time, your all about supporting your team in ganking heroes or pushing lanes back. This is obviously the time to start making for there Nexus, waiting for the perfect ACE of the opposite team and finishing it.

Team Fights

Dont be the starter of them, more than likely if you are you are a dead Annie.

Hang back, wait for the perfect moment to drop Tibbers on the enemy team (There support/squishy DPS) and finish a target off quickly. If you become the target, start kiting them! Incinerate there whole team to slow them and run away, Throwing spells at your chasers till you get a stun ready and combo them again.

It is possible to easily get a double/triple kill when kiting enemy heroes, they get greedy and dont relize how powerful Annie can be when she turns and gets them all in a perfect Incinerate. Specially with a short CD now on Tibbers, its the least they expect. 'Her ulti is on CD, get her!'

Do not be afraid to use flash to get in a decent postion to nuke from! The worst thing you can do is not using everything to your advantage to win the fight, rather than saving it to escape from a lost fight.

Updated. Very small change to the item build, and made it easier to read.

I dunno, I prefer Ghost or Cleanse to Ignite. More survivability is better since Annie has the fire power, on her own, to get kills.
