Hiya, I've been playing only 5v5 up to this point, how different is 3v3? Any champion choices that work better? is going solo aka jungle Yi less useful than in 5v5?

Jungle domination wins games on TT. It's a whole different ballgame.

Champions that don't require a late game farm tend to do better. The game ends too fast for hard carries to do really well on TT. Pushers as a whole also do a bit better here, as a good push can end the game really quickly too.

Tanky Dps is pretty good there but the most vital thing is having enough CC.
While on SR it's not the end of the world if you get a non CC champion such as Ezreal, on TT it's a really powerful asset to your team and can win teamfights.

One of the most important things is if you plan on going a
Tank / Support / Dps combo, make sure you an win the game early, push towers and have lots of CC otherwise you will lose +30 min into the game when Tanky Dps becomes unstoppable.

Exhaust is very powerful on TT and your team should have atleast 1.

CC is very important on TT, but don't go too crazy three stuns is nice and all but doesn't guarantee victory or anything. Kiting and poking is actually quite good on TT as well. My team has actually had quite a good deal of success running a Nidalee, Nunu, Mundo comp whenever we can the slow spam and poking ability as well as the healing/attack speed boosts of this comp is pretty ridiculous as well as our mobility. Its really hard for comps like this to be hard engaged on and once you poke the other team down they're done. Tower pushing is a breeze as well and nunu consume smite makes drag steals fall in your favor.

Really what this shows is that you need to have alot of synergy within your comp in order for it to be truly effective. Going WW, Malz, Morde may fit a dps , ap , tank mold with decent cc , but the other team can easily counter your team by just buying a quick silver sash. If you sit down and put thought into what you want to accomplish and how to best accomplish it you can come up with some very effective and diversified ways to play the map.

Just remember tho the gold from drag is ridiculous on TT and jungle exp and gold is huge so having a jungler is a huge priority.

Tanks and Tanky characters rock face.

Mobility is HUGE on TT, since the map is tiny. Remember that if you chase for even a small time, someone can come support whomever you're chasing very fast.

Jungle control, fast pushing, and good use of CC (chaining instead of stacking) are game winners.

Pure support characters like Sona and Soraka only have 2 champs to support instead of 4, so they're more effective in some ways, but less so in others. I personally don't like supports on TT.

The best champions on TT are arguably Jax, Singed, and Nunu. Jax really only needs one item (Gunblade) before he can start carrying like a pro, and he has few or none of the viability problems in 3s that he has in 5s. Singed is just borderline unkillable in a 3v3, so he has basically endless utility simply because he doesn't die. Nunu meanwhile has a great steroid skill, huge harassment potential, a lot of natural tankiness, an ult with a lot of utility and damage potential, the best single slow in the game, and (for reasons I'll talk about in a second) a built-in smite allowing infinite jungle control.

A pure jungle start is impossible on TT because the map is so small. You have 3 jungle camps on each side and a hotly-contested buff in mid. You will be underleveled, you will get counterjungled, and your team will lose.

That said, being able to control the jungle from the lane is actually the key to winning games in 3v3. So a champion that can quickly switch between the lane and the jungle is going to be a strong asset on your team.

In regards to champion selection, your goal is to combine as much of a 5-man team's worth of utility into 3 champions. The more versatile your selection, the better, because you need to be ready to take on a changing roles based on your enemy team. Twisted Treeline is unforgiving towards one-dimensional builds.

Also I've found that the "TT games don't last long enough to get farm" argument is pretty much BS. 30-40 minutes is plenty of time. True, you won't fill up all six item slots like you will on SR, but you'll definitely get your core built and then some. Carries can still carry hard, they just can't carry as reliably.
