The map rift, probably the best in league. Now as fun as this map is, unawareness of how to maneuver and coordinate it can make it the exact opposite. Am I the only one who is tired of failure to communicate and work as a team? There is a simple strategical view that will allow teamwork and plays to just flow from your side of the map.
I call this - A summoners guide to the rift.
Basics of the map - When you look at summoners rift on your mini-map you will notice your side has 9 lane towers, an inhibitor, and two nexus towers gaurding your nexus. This is all you have to know to follow this easy system. you're outer bot, mid, and top towers are your first line of defense.
Basic Defensive tactic #1 - Draw an imaginary line down the map vertically through your towers. there is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line of defense from your lane towers. When your first line of defense is gone or even part of it, it is crucial that you and your team-mates do not extend too far down the enemies lanes or stray too farm from an imposing attack on your damaged lane. Constant Split push on that lane and warding jungle will prevent this.
Important Defensive tactic #2 - If you're second line of defense has been breached leaving you only 1 lane tower left. You and your teammates must not leave the premises of your side of the map and jungle. Only major vision of jungle near the lane and a far split push will allow for roaming and pushes.
Defense do or die tactic #3 - If you have lost 2 or more inhibitors then it is crucial that your team doesn't worry about leaving the base. This is your base, make them fight your fight. Especially if they have more gold/more fed. Draw them into your base, poke them as they come through one of the three entrances, fall back with pokes and then initiate a fight with a focused enemy champion. Hopefully you will coordinate and focus enough to pick them off and make some offensive plays.
Offensive plays -
Basic offensive tactic #1 - When you cross their lines of defense by taking a tower it is just good practice to leave that lane, and go for an objective whether that be dragon, baron, helping another lane, or just pressing B and going back to base to buy an item. All while still keeping an eye on your lane.
Offensive tactic #2- You want to coordinate as a team to dominate a game by winning teamfights for gold and taking towers for map control. This is as easy as staying within spell and attack distance of your team-mates. It will provide your crossfire and assists for defensive and offensive maneuvers. Look at your basic attack and spells distance from your character, make sure you don't overextend that distance from your team-mates.
Offensive tactic #3/Jungle control - You want to control the enemies jungle and gank as a group of 5 from their. Vision of their jungle and roaming as a rogue group using guerrilla ware-fare will ensure some kills and maybe even a victory.
Offense tactic #4 - Try to eliminate their whole 2nd line of defense before moving on to their last lane tower and inhibitor.
Overall map goals - Defend your side of the map and keep them out of your jungle. Take out their 2nd line of defense before going for inhibitors. Control their jungle and coordinate as a team while roaming through it or anywhere else on the map. Take dragon occasionally but don't risk that and same goes for baron. Only take it when you know they won't steal or kill you.
I hope this guide has helped you, give me enough feedback and I'll make a video. Maybe next time you catch someone raging just tell them to calm down and have a look at one of these tips. Thankyou for the read and try these out if you already don't!
