Irelia isn't even sort of OP.

1. She takes way too much farm to get going.

2. In the CC spam meta we play in she might as well not even have a passive.

3. Her stun is situational and involves you getting owned first.

4. Her ult is terrible if you don't land all four.

Wait wait wait wait. You say CC spam is the current meta game, and then say that her passive is useless.

SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS ONE TO ME.

I had an irelia go 0-4 top lane against Cho'gath.

If Irelia is OP, by the transitive property, so is Cho.

1. No she doesn't
2. Being very strong vs CC in the "CC spam meta" makes her really good
3. The slow is still pretty good
4. Learn to aim your AoE skill shots

I can't tell if OP is trolling, or is simply very incapable of understanding the game.

1. She farms like a boss.

2. Her passive + merc treads means almost any cc is completely wasted on her.

3. Her stun makes her deceptively hard to kill, and the slow is underrated.

4. Her ult allows her to instantly wreck creep waves and restores a significant amount of health when used properly.

In a game where two or three of the enemy champions have CC yeah her passive is nice. That said, in the typical game, AT LEAST four of them will have hard CC. In a game where you can die in like two seconds of focus it doesn't do anything. I often find myself wondering why the hell I even bother with Merc Treads anymore.

Irelia needs a mana cost increase on her dash. And, uh. That's about it. As long as they don't go overboard, she's in the same place as Akali right now, where she needs to get fed or get freefarm to reach her potential, and there are a lot of champions who she can't freefarm against or feed off of; for example, Ashe and Urgot.
