Instead of nerfing Irelia's base stats...

Why don't you nerf Irelia's synergy with tanky DPS items? When Irelia came out I didn't really play her as a tanky DPS and she was really fun to play and still is (while not being overpowered) now. Problem comes when you get a Trinity and then just build tanky, she still does a good amount of damage but is really hard to kill, same with Xin. I don't really know how you can combat her synergy with tanky DPS items without like limiting her MR/Armor which is an awful idea but if there is a way to do that it would be great so that you guys don't ruin her DPS ability while trying to nerf her tankiness. Thanks ^^

So you're saying to nerf her passive?

Cause that's the only thing every other champion doesn't have synergy with when stacking tanky DPS items...

Nerfing her stats is kinda like nerfing her synergy with tanky dps items...

it moves it towards more of a glass-cannon-or-tank-but-not-both kinda deal.

This. If she has bad base stats, can she still DPS well with tank items? Also, Trinity Force scales off base damage.

Irelia is useless without some sorta of tank items so unless you mean you 'enjoyed' being insta gibbed your a moron because her dps wouldnt be worth the 5 seconds that she would live before she was focused down instantly by any team with half a brain.

Why would anyone build her offensively? You only need one offensive item to burst carries down inside a stun duration.

Frankly there's not much they can do to her without either completely ruining her or turning her into a clone of another champion. I think they should just nerf her damage a bit. She needs more of a penalty for building almost completely tanky. Right now there is no disadvantage to playing her this way.

She would still be incredibly powerful just from her stun and distance closing alone. She could still ride a carry and probably negate them completely; she just wouldn't drop 60-100% of their health inside a stun.

Implying she's not already a cookie-cutter tanky DPS.

The biggest problem is that the only way for any Melee DPS to be viable is to be able to survive in team fights. The whole Cluster Flux that is 5v5 team fights makes it almost impossible for a DPS to survive unless they have Damage mitigation. And even when they do it can be really difficult, only way for it to happen then is to get so Fed early on that you just have godly ammounts of Lifesteal, Damage and AS. That you can 2 shot everybody. That or You have a skill that will let you survive for an extra 6 seconds while dealing full damage *cough* Trynd *cough*.

Irelia doesnt really have anything other than the Synergy with tanky Items while still dealing damage to save her. Her Ult can heal her, but it takes too long.
