What are you looking for in the champion, playstyle wise?

Jax and malz are quite different ._. What is it about jax that interests you?

Why not try out the champs they select for free each week and look for one you like?

Really good champions that most people won't argue with are:

Malphite( tank )
Shen( tank )

Sivir( physical damage)
Ashe( physical damage )

Anivia( magical damage )
Kennen( magical damage )
Vladimir( magical damage )
Kassadin( magical damage )

Janna( support )
Zilean( support )
Taric( support )

Rammus( jungle )
Warwick( jungle )

Not saying the other champions are bad, but these are some of the most solid choices.

This.

Buying all of the 450 champs and using them for back-drops isn't a bad idea either, considering you can buy them in like 5 games or so :P

My advice would be to go through a few weekly cycles of champs, figure it out that way before you buy--It'll save yoiu a lot of IP in the long run, that you'll be able to use on runes. Once you find one that you really like, buy him/her and stick with 'em as mains, while checking out the weekly cycled champs.

Is there a list that comes out before showing the cycles?
