Riot, this been happening alot now. Game starts, we pick our champion. One person still haven't connected and when once his 30 secs are up the system just randomly picks a hero and we end up 4v5 and most of the time we lose. Is there a way to set up so rather than the system randomly pick a hero for that player, it just sends all of us back to que again? Cuz with the new leaver system, we had to wait 25 mins just to surrender. Unless you can add in a new surrender system in which if one player never showed up the teammates can just surrender right away and void the match so everyone saves time.

totally agree - I've had a lot of games like that and it's really frustrating to have to fight a 4v5 game for 25 mins - i understand the idea is to prevent queue dodging so: maybe have a system that checks if the player is afk/idle/connected during the character select and just resends the team back into queue - maybe disable this for arranged group members so they can't plan for this - but still enable the checking for the randoms added to complete the group

If game started, he was connected. Otherwise, even after geting him random champion it would still return everyone to quee after wasting ~100 seconds of their lives.
