I'll tell you a tale if you're eager to know it,
it's written by a summoner known as the Poet,
he wrote down his stories in the Scrolls of Riot.
So listen closely, sit down and be quiet.

***

I decided to wander through Summoner's Rift
with feet so eager, with feet so swift.
But right when I walked a few steps on the stone:
I heard from the woods an unsual tone.
It was a bit frightening, scaring as well
but what might have caused it, I could not tell.
Maybe it was but an animal's shout?
As all went silent, I tried to find out:

And as I stood on the ground
to seek for the sound
was all that I found:
nothing around!

Though naught did I hear, and less did I see,
my soul cried in anxiety: Flee, body, flee!
- A crack! from the bushes a treacherous noise!
- Two squirrels but playing, my terrors their toys.
With a tune on my lips and my mind put at ease,
my heart sang me fairy tales, as such are these:

Of ambition, of passion, of potions and pots,
of faith when it's blooming, of faith when it rots,
of heroes and villains, of demons and knights -
such my heart's melodies swam through the lights.

And as I paced down the battlefield's path,
from the woods came a scream of fury and wrath!
My heart sought for shelter, my mind for excuse -
when all of a sudden all hell broke loose.

Unable to move, stricken with fear,
I saw the vile creature of evil come near!
With teeth sharp as razors and claws nonetheless,
and eyes that protruded pure devilishness,
seven feet tall and of unnatural strength,
waving a tail of half a man's length,
it gave me a most diabolical grin
born from ferocity, mischief and sin.

And it held up its weapon, a sinister blade,
the most deadly and blood-lusting thing ever made.

And as it comes near and my end is nigh
- I still wonder how and I still wonder why -
the creature was lifted up into the sky
thrown into the woods with a determined cry:
gone was the demon and saved was I!

And then a most violent battle began,
while I took my chances and ran off and ran,
Do not turn around, get away from this plight!
I thought to myself, and on went the flight.

And every future became present and past
as I reached the walls of safety at last.
And I fell to my knees, exhausted from fear.
But no sound of the battle would get to my ear;

and I lay to the ground
to seek for a sound,
but all that I found
was my heartbeat's pound.

This was the story as told in the Scrolls
how the Poet escaped the Eater of Souls.
