Amazing how hard it is to put into a game some thing that has been available in games for a long time...not creating any thing new, Many have done it.

We have a better chance to see Search feature on this site before we see replays. I know coding and debugging arn't easy tasks but come on man, Old tech shouldn't be that difficult for dev's who have been trained in the last 1-10 years.

They can't just be like "oh lets take starcraft 2's replay system and paste it onto LoL". They have to make a new system for their specific engine.

Replays are super complicated. It's not as simple as recording the game play. The system has to save every action that was taken in the game and replay it in flawless order while being paused, sped up, slowed down, etc..
It's basically the computer playing a new game with pre-determined actions based on what you did in the game.

You don't need Blizzard's manpower and money to make a replay function.

HoN did it. And their company is just as much "startup" as Riot.

Yet Riot can't? Or are you implying that the architecture behind LoL is such that it's super hard to craft a replay function?

If that's the case, that's horribly shortsighted and, frankly, a bit amateurish on Riot's part...

they have been working with their savage engine for years before Riot was even in existence... you realize that right? All those Replays Stats etc in HoN are what they used in both Savage and Savage 2.

that's not completely true. S2 games have made games before HoN.

Also replay is very very difficult to do. WC3 replays were broken after every patch so people need to stop pointing to that as an example of a game having a replay function. It's very difficult to do.

Now that being said, it should have been done by now.
