None of us had this problem, but I have an Nvidia card (8800GT) and it doesn't seem to be happening. It is possible that this is related to some interaction between the Core2s and Nvidia cards. I have a Phenom II.

same, core duo 2.26, nvidia geforce 9800m gts (gateway laptop), run it everything on very high 1920x1200, usually get frames of about 45. lately frames have increased overall into the 50s-60s (i have vsync off) but like you all posted, frame rates dip, for me into the 20s which kinda is bothersome. 30s would be fine but sometimes it gets into the low 20s, which feels like me running crysis on my laptop =/

Edit: Dxdiag files attached

I have the same issue with amd phenom II x4 955 black @ 3.2gigahertz, ati 3850 and 6 gigs of ram so I don't think it's a nvidia/intel issue. I have the same problem, which is normal fps (60) then sudden dips to around 20 fps sporadically throughout games.

Same here. FPS drops to like 20 randomly. Closed everything, even restarted my computer. Core 2 Quad Q6600 and a Geforce 280, 8 gigs of ram. Attached a DxDiag.
