There is no reason to pick Udyr, and explanation to back it up

I want to start off by saying I love playing Udyr, as he is alot of fun. However, he just isn't any good. I will compare Udyr to the hero I find plays most like him and show off the comparison.


Please tell me what Udyr brings to the table that Jax does not.
Jax:
Has higher or equal stat gain in every category.
Has an ability that lets him close distance (leap) and instantly damages them.
Has a fast proccing stun that can hit melee aoe
Has a high passive dodge
Has 2 aoe damage abilities, although only one is high damage
Fast attack speed gain
Has high base run speed

Udyr
Has a lower or equal stat gain in every category
Has an ability that lets him close distance (bear stance) but doesn't damage them.
Has a fast proccing stun that hits single target (spammable on group, but you have to then switch targets)
Has turtle stance (which prevents crits, so low damage)
Has 1 aoe ability and does moderate-low damage
Fast attack speed gain, however using it means you cant use aoe damage or stun at the same time.

The key defining thing that Udyr has over Jax: Turtle stance

Why it doesn't matter: Turtle stance does have leech, but it prevents critical hits and the use of other more valuable stances. It also has a terrible AP scaling ratio as does phoenix stance. If you were to build to use the full effect of turtle shield, you would have to build AP, which makes turtle without the shield less useful. In addition, It is far more cost effective to spend the money you are spending on AP items on Health/armor/mr instead as that is valuable all the time instead of just when using turtle.

Conclusion: The only category Jax doesn't straight up beat Udyr in (turtle stance), is useless because building as tank is more cost effective than playing to the stance's abilities.
