Don't Let Bullies Run Free

To let a troll/ rager single out on of your teammates and harass them is ALMOST as bad as doing it yourself. To allow him to do this is to condone his behavior. It is the same as watching a bully pick on someone at school, except here your game is at stake.

The problem is, everyone is too scared to speak up, because they think they will be banned, but it is VERY easy to confront a bully without using bannable language, and it is the duty of anyone who not only tries to uphold the "summoners code" but if you want a less lame reason, just don't let a fellow person and fellow teammate get harassed, no one likes it.

DO NOT sit by and let bullies be bullies. The added benefit of the team trying to talk down a bully is, when the tribunal sees the card, they can see who is at fault immediately. And if the troll or trolls try to counter-report you, the chat will also show that everyone on the team sat opposite of the troll, and it will not only be the two of them going back and forth.

Remember that, as soon as a negative thing is said, it is out there and floating around. Let's not pretend like everyone who plays the game is a super strong-willed, perfect manly man that can just mute the bully and be OK after. Sometimes, there are a few exchanges before a mute is really needed. By that time, the player's game is already brought down a notch, and he knows that one of his teammates not only stands against him, but will not be able to communicate with him for the rest of the game.

Please do not let the fear of the tribunal stop you from helping out your fellow gamers, and from helping to make the REAL community you engage and interact with everyday a better place. Let's not forget that on the other side of every computer is a guy trying to have a good day, banging away at the same keys you are.

As much as I like this post maybe you should also put this in the General Discussion because trolls do not only troll on dominion but also Summoner's Rift and Twisted Treeline.

No, it's because we couldn't care less.
We just simply report the player at the end, there's no need to invest our effort into someone else's pettiness.

I like the sentiment I think the OP is going for, but you need to be really, really careful. There's an extremely fine line between "defending player X against being bullied by player Y" and "ganging up with player X to bully player Y". A lot of these fights look completely different to people on the outside (I.E. Tribunal) than they do to people on the inside. Like 99% of the time the people who are getting reported believe that they're morally allowed to be jerks because of self defense or something, but that doesn't apply in LoL. If you're scrapping with someone else, even if it's to defend a teammate, to an impartial third party it often just looks like two people scrapping, with both of them believing that the other guy is a total jerk who deserves it.

There are ways to combat bullying without getting into shouting matches with bullies. You can be a positive influence on your team, if you think a teammate is getting picked on, make a point to congratulate them when they do well (be careful to phrase it so they don't think you're being sarcastic, though, lol). You can try to reduce tension by joking around (if you can create an environment where everyone knows you're just playing to have fun, then suddenly a lot of "insults" sound more like joking around and people get offended by them less). There are lots of ways you can support your teammates without yelling at them.

But please be careful that it doesn't become using "I was defending him from a jerk!" as justification for being a jerk yourself. That way lies raging and banning and "omg why was I banned when this other guy was a jerk too" threads.

How do I say this. LoL is too big for us not to move forward, and your vision is narrow. As a community were gonna try to make this game a better place, or it will die a pit of trolls. Just because you don't want to hear it does not mean we're whining. In fact one could say you're the one throwing the tantrum here.

Talk to Lyte. He already stated several statistics that pretty much show why you are completely wrong.

No it isn't. You're acting like a 13 year old who doesn't know how to actually defend what he says so the best thing he can do is take something completely out of context and change it even further to make it look like he knows what he's talking about. Kind of like Fox News.

I'm gonna get downvoted for that comment. Just know...it was worth it.

If people are jerks in game, tell them to shut up and keep playing. If they keep on, you've got a mute option (press tab, little chat bubble right next to their name), and a report option at the end.

As a side note, I've seen this happen a few times now in DD inhouses. If you feel the need to point out failures in a nonconstructive manner, don't join them. We all ask new players to hop into DD and join an inhouse from time to time so they can learn in a friendly environment that is free of bad manners and full of learning opportunities you simply can't find in soloqueue. If you want to know what isn't helping dominion grow, its veterans not knowing how to critique in a useful manner.
