Opinions on the item?

personally I miss the mana drain. Had the drain just been nerfed instead of removed I'd still like the item.

Anyone Else's opinion?

i liked it right when it was first changed, but since the nerfs not so much anymore. i liked the mana drain but not really that practical, not sure who it was good with except the OG kass

It needs a price reduction and a small stat reduction then build into something else late game. I still get it sometimes against really AP heavy teams but it just doesn't cut it anymore since flat is applied after %.

I never really got to use it much when it burned mana. It seemed pretty strong when it did that, but not quite as strong as other items like Infinity Edge or Phantom Dancer I liked building first. Mostly it just did what it does now with a 5% chance you'd perma-silence someone you were attacking. And I can see why that particular functionality was removed from it, because Silence is the lamest type of CC to get hit by; as you can't pull off any cool maneuvers when that happens. Most mages are so front-loaded with their damage and have so many +mana items you'd end up silencing everyone besides the burst casters though, which made the item less of an anti-mage pick and more an on-hit kind of thing like Frozen Mallet, albeit less reliable but considerably more debilitating and annoying when it worked.

id be favor for a mana drain that was percentage current amount based but get this the numerical value of the mana drain is affect by Magic resist. so in other words take 1000 mana for example if the percentage was at 10% that 100 but with 30% Magic resist it will go down to like 60 but so forth and cannot drain pass 10% of max mana instead it will do magic damg. either that or a every 3rd shot it will stop mana regen for 3 sec cannot be reapplied for 10sec.

It was a must have on Shyvana, but now that she can pick Botrk there is barely and need for it anymore on her. Except when facing really AP heavy teams, then its still good.

The problem with the mana drain is it was either way too strong (vs assassins/ champs with low mana pools) or way too weak (vs champs with any mana items, or even just a normal base mana pool late game). Items specialising in countering strategies or class types are fine, but it was too unbalanced to leave in - hence it got removed. What it needs is either a buff, adding higher stats and a more unique feel for a bigger price tag, or lowering the values and cost and making it build into another item as was already said here, which was the treatment given to hex-drinker, and more recently bilgewater cutlass.

The main issue is its sitting in the price gap no one wants to buy from - Its too cheap to be considered a late game item, but its too expensive to build into anything else. Therefore a price change, and a stat change based around that, is what is necessary to help this item.

Wit's End already had mana burn removed when Shyvana was intorduced in the game...

Wit's End is still pretty viable on Irelia. Added with her basic attacks with 75 true damage, the 42 bonus magic damage from Wit's End makes Irelia's hits pretty dangerous IMO.

Its only viable on 5 champions imo.

1. Udyr - pretty much my core as Udyr. Free tankiness + attack speed. Win?
2. Kayle - gives that magic resist to become tanky but giving the attack speed she desperately needs (AS Kayle, obviously)
3. Irelia - true damage + her W + free tankiness + attack speed with her W. Pretty strong.
4. Teemo - but only scrubs play Teemo. Gives him the attack speed and true damage he needs to take down those tanky bruisers.
5. Shen - tankiness + attack speed to go with his Q. Trinity Force is a must with the Wit's End so it actually does something.
