Well for awhile now your rank will always stay the same. You won't fall out of a rank anymore. So wouldn't it be okay to apply borders based on your rank rather than wait till the end of the season since technically you can't get demoted out of a rank?

Just curious what you guys think

No you can't get demoted out of a actual rank.

For example you can't go from gold to silver.

I wanted them to update the season every month like Halo was doing... Guess they aren't capable of that...

It would be nice to have soft resets (seing that you can get ELO locked sooner, so it seems) as well as updates to borders and such.

IDK why RIOT does year + Seasons... Really makes no sense to me....

Yes... you can from decay.

"After 28 days of inactivity in a particular ranked queue, a couple things will happen. First, you'll be hidden from the standings in your League, and you may lose League Points depending on your current tier. Every seven days thereafter, you'll lose LP again until you play a match in that queue.

The number of LP lost following each period of decay is as follows:

Diamond: 50
Platinum: 35
Gold: 25
Silver: 10
Bronze: 0

If you fall below zero LP as a result of decay, you'll be placed into the next lowest division. If you're already in Division V of your league, you'll fall into a new league in the next tier down. This is currently the only way to get demoted to a lower tier."

This is all from the client.

If you are inactive for more than 30 days you can be demoted from Gold to Silver...That is the only way though....

True true but either way last season was "your highest elo" would be your border after the change. I didn't know that you could get kicked into the league below for inactivity for 30 days, thanks for the insight :#.
