To make items that are made with these two items easier to move into. Have B.F. Sword build from one pickaxe and 675 gold. Have Needlessly Large Rod build from Blasting Rod and 740 gold.

They are intended to be hard to buy by giving greater gold-efficiency for their stats compared to less costly examples.

The whole idea behind them is to be expensive, so champions cannot "progressively" get stronger in steps.

Also, it forces you to stay in lane for longer, and makes it so you don't back so often, thus promoting more fun gameplay.

They don't force you to really stay in lane longer, If you need a heal your not going to stay in lane even if you can't buy anything.

My point being 1550 is to large of a gold step. They can still give more efficient stats but the main concern is the time you spending tanking your damage because you have no option other then to buy the 1550 items simply because it builds into what you want to buy.

That's the point. You are being penalized by being unable to stay by not affording a better, more gold-efficient item.

Reword what you said please. You sentence looks like two separate thoughts thrown together.

I can't see what's wrong with it, but sure.

Not being able to afford a BFS/NLR at this moment for whatever reason is intentional, as it gives you more AD/AP for your gold than if you had spent it on the lower tier versions. This creates meaning by forcing you to need to do better to get more gold at once which rewards you by getting more out of your gold.

B.F. sword is 34.44444 gold an AD. Pick axe is 35 gold an AD. That argument is completely baseless when gold cost are this close together. There is no advantage to waiting for a B.F. sword over a pickaxe at all. The only reason you do it is if your making an item that needs B.F. Swords.
