I'm kind of confused on how points are earned seriously. I'm on gold V division and everytime I win a game I get no more than 5 points for a win, but every time I lose, I lose no less than 20 points. Now I was talking to a friend of mine and he tells me that every time he wins a game he gets around 15 points, and when he loses he loses around 10 points (he is on silver btw). So my question is, do different ladders (bronze, silver gold...) have different methods of giving point? because the way I see it I'm gonna have to find a way to 20 games in a row just to get to a promotion game... which pretty much sounds impossible...

ONCE AGAIN... it is pretty easy... i see you are at 46 wins 51 losses... until your wins are higher than your losses you will continue to get that amount of points... so break even on W/l than try to stay positive in wins... if you see a bad team (troll pick) LEAVE it does not count to your win/loss mmr/hidden elo.

Just went through the exact same thing myself. Your W/L ratio is positive, but you're on the verge of ranking out of Silver permanently, and your hidden MMR is not significantly into gold. So basically the system is checking if you're ready. When it happened to me, I won 5 games in a row after I got to 86 LP and didn't get to 100. Then I lost 1 and lost 8 points, back down to 88. Next win shot me up to 100.

Basically, keep winning more than you lose, your hidden MMR will catch up and start giving you normal points again. Same thing goes for OP.

If that was how it actually worked, it'd be a horrible design. It'd be punishing you for games you potentially lost months ago. If you had a 10% win rate for the first 100 games you played, then 50% for the next 300, you're telling me you'd have to pull a 90% win rate for the next 100 straight games before the system decided you might be eligible to move up?

My guess is MMR is based on a moving average of your last 10-20 games.
