Hello everyone! I'd like to take a minute to promote our first major LoL 5v5 Double Elimination Tournament, sponsored and held at Gamenet, located in Harford County, Maryland.

The tournament will be held April 12th through April 13th. Our plan is to have at least 8-10 teams participate. We are a local lan center, and everyone here plays the game as if it was our job, so we already have a handful of teams registered.

We are shooting for a grand prize of $750, and second place $250. This will happen if we have at least 10 teams. There are some minor details still in the works, but here is an overall who, what, when . . of the tournament.

Type: League of Legends 5v5 (Summoners Rift) Double Elimination
Game Winner: The team who completely destroys their opponent’s nexus or forces their opponent to surrender.
Entry Fee: $40 Per Person, $200 Per Team
1st Place Prize: %37.5 of Entry Pool (Eg. 10 Team Tournament = $750 First Place, $150 Per Winning Team Member)
Runner Up: %12.5 of Entry Pool (Eg. 10 Team Tournament = $250 Second Place, $50 Per Winning Team Member)
Date: April 12th & 13th, 2013
Time: April 12th (Friday): First match at 5pm. No games will start after 11:15pm. | April 13th (Saturday): First match at Noon. No games will start after 11:15pm. A much more detailed schedule will be made closer to the event with what teams play when. (If for any reason the tournament does not complete by April 14th, 2013 12:00am, the remaining teams and Gamenet will arrange an extension day to complete the event.)
Location: Gamenet (100-B North Tollgate, Bel Air – Maryland, 21014) (The Arcade)

REGISTRATION ENDS MARCH 30TH. We will need eight (8) teams by that date for the tournament to take place, and we feel that we will. TO REGISTER, visit the link above, and scroll to the bottom of the page to fill out the form.

IMPORTANT! This tournament will be held on location, and played on location. We are NOT accepting any teams via the interwebs (playing elsewhere). All teams must be present at Gamenet to participate. Thanks and we hope to see some locals register!

I will update this thread as we gather more details as we near the date.

Dat entry fee >_> really defeats the purpose of having a region-defined tourney in the first place, since you have a 1/10 chance of winning a 350% return.

I understand that the entry fee is a little high, however . . it's for a reason.

With obviously no sponsors under our belt and since this is a 2 day event, taking up one of our party rooms for the weekend . . we have to make money to cover our own losses. In order to reach that, AND still have a desirable prize winning, we had to make it $40.

However at the end of the day . . how often do you get to play in a region tournament as an average LoL player. They are few and far between at least around here. It will still be a fun weekend nonetheless.

Also, solo registration just opened up yesterday which is half the entry fee ($20). This will be multiple solo players randomly drawn up into teams for people that want to still play but cannot find a team. Even though their entry fee is 1/2, they can still win the big prize.

During these events, do you allow and Challenger Tier solo queue players or Diamond 1 teams?
