Ok so I am using a geforce GTX 460m. (Running dual in SLI)

Now long story short, one of the fans is a bit crappy and it can sometimes shut off which causes the mobo to go into a loop where it thinks the fan is not connected..when it is.
This causes the lappy to beep upon startup and then shut down 20 seconds later.

Now, to fix this I was advised to swap over the fans (unplug and plug them back in on the opposite vid card whenever the problem arises..and it works)

But I dont wish to keep doing this, I want to replace the fan.

I am wondering if there is any way to order the specific video card fan on its own..because I dont want to replace the whole darn card for a measly fan.

Failing this, can I just get any other fan?

I just don't know how to get the right size or something that will utilize the heat sink properly.

the card is shaped like this:

heatsink is the 2 vertical parts-------> | |____

and the fan mounts on the horizontal part and sits in a dome-shaped case to redirect the air to the heatsink rather than lose half the air-flow through the back.

So whenever I look for fans, they are always open fans where i feel if i placed them in my lappy, apart from the fact they may not fit 100%, they certainly dont seem to have the dome on them to help redirect air flow to where i need it.

I hope you understood, but any help or advice would be awesome.

Cheers!

Lappy is almost 2 years old. But yeah, you're a huge help.
