Hi, my name is Athain, and I'm the director of content for a new esports organization and gaming community called Kal Vas Gaming that will be launching next month. We're a group of passionate, experienced people with a lot of exciting things in the works for you guys. Our organization includes former-Rioters, professional web content specialists, experienced commentators, and a number of sponsorships and partnerships, including Raidcall, the video production company Penguin, and the graphic design firm Trinity Studios. We're also in the final stages of talks with 5 other potential partners, including some pretty big, pretty exciting names.
We've got two competitive teams under our banner right now, one NA and one Australian. Our Australian team is currently 2nd in the ESL A-series. They placed 2nd in the Go4lol monthly finals for November/December and are slotted to compete in the premier ESL tournament for the top-4 teams in the Australian region. They're currently undefeated in the Cyber Gamer Draft Tournament as well, and have qualified for an as-yet unannounced pro-level competitive event in the near future.
We're currently looking for bloggers and analysts to fill out our content team. As mentioned, our launch is next month and we're preparing a big content buildout as part of our greater launch event, which will include exclusive video and text interviews, giveaways, a community tournament with an awesome prize pool, some special guests, and more.
To make all that happen on time, I'm looking to add a few exceptional people to the team. Here's what we need:
--1-2 Esports bloggers. You'll be covering the competitive LoL beat. LCS, of course, but also major partnered tournaments, all the way down to the collegiate scene. You'll be covering some news, but will also be providing analysis of gameplay, emerging metagame trends, and the like. When we host tournaments, you'll be part of a team including our casters and video production people working to make it an awesome event, worthy of the community's attention. Applicants for this gig will ideally have a kung-fu grip on the English language and a high-degree of game knowledge to match it. That can most easily be demonstrated with a high Elo, but if you can sell me on the fact that you know the nuances of this game inside and out without necessarily having the Elo (I know that there are some great players out there, like Stonewall, who just don't enjoy ranked), I'm more than willing to listen. You'll be expected to write 1 blog post per week, as well as additional coverage in the event of a major news event, like a big tournament.
-- 1 PBE blogger/Dataminer. You'll be reporting on new changes to the game the minute they become knowable. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to function largely independently, and will be able to keep competitive with other sites in terms of discovering cool new changes to the game. You'll need the know-how to mine the data for game changes, as well as a sufficient grasp of the English language to not require an editor (these sorts of posts will need to go out as soon as possible, so there will be times when you won't be able to wait for an editor to look over your writing). For the same reason, knowledge of SEO and social media marketing best practices are a plus, but if you're perfect in every other regard, we can train you in those. You'll be expected to keep up with all major PBE releases. On slow weeks when there's little or nothing new to report, you'll be expected to write 1 blog post per week.
-- 1-2 Instructional/theorycrafting bloggers. You'll be writing content for newer- to intermediate-players, helping them to improve their game. This can include gameplay guides, video content, mathematical comparisons of various item builds, and so on. Our graphic design and video editing teams will be at your disposal to make high-quality content. All applicants must have a rock-solid, high-level knowledge of the game. The ideal applicant will have some prior experience with this sort of thing, whether that's a highly-rated guide on Solomid.net, or a successful youtube video guide, or simply a terrifying and humbling command of relevant mathematics. Proficiency with Photoshop is a plus. You'll be expected to write 1-2 blog posts per week.
-- Opinion/Editorial Bloggers. If you're a high-Elo or professional player and a known personality within the community who's been looking for a place to speak your mind about the game, we'd love to have you blog for us, and can market your blog for you on all the usual channels.
If you're interested in applying, please email your application to email@example.com. In the email, please include your name, your summoner name, some info about you and your qualifications relevant to your desired role, and a writing sample of no less than 200 words, and absolutely no more than 2000, in the same category you're looking to write for us.
These currently are not paying positions, though they might become paying positions in the future. If nothing else, we can offer you a foot-in-the-door of the excellent world of esports. You can rub shoulders with pro-gamers and Rioters, you can interview top-level personalities, you can have your stuff not only published, but capably marketed to the entire community. We're a passionate group of folks, working on something we believe in, and we'd love to have you along for the ride. Thanks for reading!
