Upon logging into league of legends every now and then I experience no lag until the game starts. There is no way to test lag as a bot game doesn't strain much internet but real games do, and that's where it counts.

Before all of you say "get faster internet" I have 600 Kb/s download speed and play League better on this internet than a 5 Mb/s download speed internet company I had at college. (Bytes not bits for you technological folks) But sometimes I lag.

Here's my Solution to Lag: Upon logging in players should be given the option to test their internet compatibility with league of legends servers. I do not know the technical way of doing this but as a gamer, I know that PC games have stress tests of hardware aka Benchmarking.

Now if we were given this benchmark tool, we could prematurely know if we were going to lag in a game before playing one that counts. I'm not talking "Ping servers" because sending tiny data to benchmark isn't enough to know if you will lag. I cannot tell you how many times I've started a game with 80-90 ping and had it skyrocket to 300 in the middle of a team fight.

Speedtest.net seems to test internet for you, but alas that's not Riot's Servers you're testing.

I hope those that are reading find this idea to be a good one.

Thank you for your time.

Ya....this would be useful, especially for finding out, you're roommate was downloading something that won't stop, and he didn't tell you...until you find yourself in the battle card screen with 1k+ lag,

I agree, this would be very useful, even if it was just an executable file you put in the downloads section of the website thats only purpose is stress test your connection to the League servers in accordance with the networking demands of a normal PvP match.

You actually can already do this in the command prompt using the ping command and its associated parameters, but a tool to take the code out of the task would be useful. (also I don't know what IP I would need to use)

your download rates have nothing to do with ping to the sever. see this link
