When too much wild magic is introduced, nature finds a way to balance the scales. In this case, instead of animating something that already existed, it created an entirely new being. This child was created with a large magical ruby embedded in her chest. When the child was discovered, she was adopted by the couple who found her. They carefully kept Ruby hidden from those who would prey upon her and raised her as a human.

Ruby may have been hidden but her effect on the magic nearby was not. Her very existence distorts the magic around her ruining the magical experiments of those nearby or causing wild fluctations resulting in unexpected results. When she was a teenager, she discovered she could alter the magic around her. She could absorb it like a sponge and reuse it. She could also use it to make her body more powerful.

When Blitzcrank petitioned to be declared a sentient being, Ruby was startled to feel magical energy from him that definitely came from her. Realizing her magical field has accidently caused the animation of Blitzcrank, she found herself fascinated by him. She focused hard on her magical abilities honing the ruby red blasts of magic that would become her trademark.

Seeing Blitzcrank fight in the League of Legends, she longed to fight at its side. When the summoners saw her awesome power over magic, they readily agreed to allow Ruby to join the League of Legends so she could fight with the golem she thinks of as her son.

*================================================= ========*

Ruby Passive (Wild Power) - Ruby gains one attack damage for every 100 mana that she has. Her auto-attacks deal magical damage instead of physical damage.

Ruby's auto-attack is a ball of red arcane energy. 550 range.

Ruby's Q - Passive (Radiant Glow): Ruby gains one ability power for every 100 health that she has. Active (Ruby Blaze): Her auto-attacks deal additional magical damage (10/15/20/25/30 + 0.6AP) for five seconds. Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 sec Mana Cost: 50

Ruby's W - Passive (Flux Armor): Ruby gains one point of armor for every 20 MR.
Active - Ruby gains armor equal to her MR for 4/5/6/7/8 seconds. Cooldown: 15 sec Mana Cost: 80

Ruby's E - Passive (Ruby Speed): Ruby gains CDR equal to 1% of her movement speed.
Active - Ruby heals herself for 50/100/150/200/250 + 0.5 AP and gains 30% movement speed. Duration: 5 sec Mana Cost: 80/100/120/140/160 Cooldown: 15 sec

Ruby's R - Passive (Wild Empowerment): Ruby gains an attack speed bonus of 30/60/100% of her spell vamp. Active - Creates a shield that absorbs the next enemy ability that strikes it. Her next auto attack deals bonus magical damage equal to the base damage of that ability and any effects that that ability could inflict. After it absorbs an ability, the duration ends. Duration: 3 sec Cooldown: 180 sec Mana Cost: 90

Example: Morgana hits with a binding with the ultimate up. Ruby's next auto attack deals the base damage of that attack and snares the target like a binding would.

Example: Jax hits with his E when Ruby's shield is up. Ruby's next auto-attack would stun the target and do the base damage of his E attack as bonus magical damage.

Ruby is meant to be a ranged bruiser. She has no CC of any kind unless you use CC on her during her ultimate. Her escape is fairly weak as well healing herself and getting a small speed bonus. She really wants to build spell vamp as this acts like life steal for her auto attacks and causes her to attack faster. She gets a small armor bonus for taking magical resistance items. She scales with health and mana which is good since her mana costs are fairly high. Ruby deals no physical damage so her opponents will typically build magic resistance. Her auto-attacks will NOT trigger Liandry's Torment. Her ultimate does trigger it. Her Q does not.

Appearance: Ruby's hair is red and wild as her magical field causes it to raise. She has a giant ruby in her chest. She wears Bronze armor altered to allow her ruby to be seen. She looks like a young adult who is very powerful and very naive. Her voice has an odd echo to it like she was speaking into a microphone due to her magical nature.

Special bonus: When paired with Blitzcrank, you get a buff called Mother's Love. Blitz gets a buff called Unexpected Happiness. It's just fluff.

There should be hints in the lore that Ruby was nearby at several incidents where magical events went horribly wrong. Including when a certain tree spontaneously came to life.

My main issue with this champion is that there's too much she scales off. The passive is instantly cool, and makes it seem like you want her to be an auto-attack version of Ryze, but then you have abilities that scale off of all kinds of random things. It's confusing to the player, especially when you could just provide some flat values that give similar bonuses.

In addition, some scalings make no sense. No-one's going to itemise spell-vamp for her ult passive, because neither her attacks nor any of her abilities benefit from it. Which makes it a useless passive.

My favourite things about this character are her passive and her ult, it instantly sets her up as some kind of defensive, alternative sustained damage AP character who uses autos for her damage. That's pretty unique and interesting. I just think that the other abilities need to synergise more for it to work.

You missed the part about her autos dealing magical damage. They should be coded so Spell Vamp works for them the same way Life Steal works for a melee champ. I should have made that more clear. So itemizing for Spell Vamp essentially gives her the equivalent of Life Steal plus gives her some attack speed as a bonus. So she would want to get it. Perhaps you're right. Sometimes simpler is better.

The idea was that she's a being a magic. If she gains more health, she has more magical power. If she has magical resistance, she gains armor because she's a being of magic. If she gets an item that allows her to move faster, she can use her magic faster. Stealing life allows her to shoot her auto attacks faster because she has more magic to work with.

She's balanced by her lack of CC and escapes. Her scalings encourage you to play her as a ranged bruiser as she scales off health, mana, and sustain but you can buy either AP or AD items depending on what you want and items that give MR give her a small bonus

Some examples:
1) Abyssal Scepter. 70AP, 45MR, -20MR aura. That 70 AP gives her 42 extra damage on her auto attacks, +2 bonus armor, and since her damage is magical, the -20 MR increases her damage.

2) Rod of Ages (full stack). 650 health, 650 mana, 80 AP. That 650 health grants an additional 6.5AP. That 650 mana gives her +6.5 dmg. That 86.5 AP gives her 51.9 during Q which is 57.4 damage on her auto attacks.

So you have all these itemization options like say, a Jax does. Which was my goal.

I think I'll redo it and make her much simpler but keep the core concept. Thanks for the feedback.

would be very confusing to build. but, I suppose with enough focus, she could as useful as anyone else. I love the fact that her autoattacks deal magic damage.
