Why is using your ult to execute or snipe bad? (Evelyn's play-style too limited now.)

its not so much that its bad as it is the fact she has an option.

because it essentially means u've got a nuke that cuts off 1/4-1/3 of their hp at any time. If ur able to do that much damage at any time it's only logical that ur only allowed to do it at the start of a fight.

Right because people don't get MR. The nerf to the range would've been enough. She didn't need a change to the damage. Not only that but they reduced the burst dmg from her E AND increased the mana from her Q (which greatly hurt her jungle btw). I don't recall them saying anything warranting a nerf to her mana cost on Q.

Lets compare her pre-nerf ult to other AoE ult champs. All champs having 300 AP
[Take note that Eve's ult requires higher MAX HP the higher the AP to deal the same amount of damage. In other words, her ult's ratio is terrible unless your target has very very high HP. For 400 AP she needs to hit a 4000 HP target to be on par with a 0.9 AP ratio]

Karthus
550 base + 0.6AP = 730 (2600 HP for eve).
Xerath
825 base + 1.8AP = 1365 [455 x3] (4875 HP for eve)
If he only lands 2 out of 3 average on the team: 910 damage (3250 HP for eve)
Ziggs
500 +0.9 AP = 770 (2750HP for eve)
Outside ground zero: 400 + 0.72 = 616 (2200HP for eve)
Orianna
300 + 0.7 AP = 510 (1822 HP for eve) [Ori's ult disruption is what really kills]
Lux
500 + 0.75AP = 725 (2590 HP for eve) [40 seconds CD. She can cast it more than twice than eve without CDR]
Cass
450 + 0.6 = 630 (2250 HP for eve) [can stun instead of the slow]
Annie
450 + 0.7AP = 660 (2357 HP for eve) [usually stuns via passive]

AFAIK, her pre-nerf ult (25% of max + 1% every 100AP) didn't hit "that" hard by itself. It did however hit harder on 1 target affected by DFG. Hell, instead of nerfing the Ult they could've just nerfed DFG to only increase damage dealt for single target magic damage sources. There you go! No more ridiculous burst from using DFG + Ult.

I'm fine with the reduction on the range. They didn't want people to "snipe" and the range nerf basically stops that.

TL;DR: Her ultimate's damage per-nerf wasn't that high. They should've nerfed DFG to not affect AoE magic damage.

Just because Riot wants Eve's ult to be used as an initiation does not mean that she needs to use it on the entire enemy team (although that would provide optimal damage). She is an assassin and her passive stealth and ultimate allow for Eve to go to the adc/ap carry and initiate on them. SHE DOESN'T NEED TO INITIATE THE ENTIRE TEAM. If Eve takes out the adc and heavily damages anyone else on the team and then dies she's essentially done her role in a team fight, provided your team makes very little/no errors. Her hate spike can be spammed repeatedly and deals significant damage at the end of the game. She can easily drop an adc almost immediately, allowing your team to destroy the rest of the enemy team. That being said, they could probably put the range back to where it was pre-patch since it can't execute people anymore.
