I notice a distinct lack of demons in Runeterra

We've got undead, monsters, etc., but not really any Champion that captures a "demonic" theme. Gatekeeper Galio doesn't count, and Shaco is more of a Joker expy than a demon.

Right now, when I'm thinking demon, I'm thinking something like Varimathras (the dreadlord) from Warcraft lore. Stuff that invokes a kind of "hell-born" and "truly evil" aura to it, without the whole feeling of being undead or "mysterious" overshadowing the two former points.

So what do the rest of you think? Am I missing an obvious Champion, or does League need a real demon?

i would say the Void monsters are as close to demons as you could get. sure, they may looks all weird and different, but demons come in many forms...

I think we are due for a demon, and or another void champion.

I've never been to keen on their existence. Runeterra still has a wide castes of people to choose from without resorting to stock characters.

Besides, under the laws of tradition, Morganna would be classified as a demon anyways. She is afterall, the Fallen Angel.

I really don't think we need demons in this setting, given the way the world has been built up. That's not to say they couldn't work if they were integrated in an interesting fashion but I'm not entirely sure what niche they'd actually serve to fill that isn't already somewhat catered for:

  • The Void provides an incursion from a foreign realm and has secretive cults working to summon it into the world
  • The Shadow Isles is effectively the underworld of this setting and the focus for death and souls
  • Brand is a spirit that possesses mortals and tries to use their bodies to burn the world
  • Annie and the people of the Voodoo lands summon and trap shadow beings

When there isn't any real sort of prominent religion in a setting, and the primary conflicts are not of a spiritual nature, it seems a little pointless to bring in beings that typically have hellish connotations. What would they really bring to the table that we don't get elsewhere, beyond the stereotypical demonic visuals?

May I bring to the table that they were designing a very demon like champ, Omen, but he was turned down. Look here --> http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Omen
