the lunar-solar new year is not actually only chinese
its religious (we see christmas skins)
its cultural (we see St. Patrics day, or halloween)
its also multi-national (Vietnam, China, just to name a few)

"Olympic" events are subject to copyright. The lunar new year isn't.

Lunar New Year is still a thing in a lot of places, China is just the most common.

Look at the art for the Lunar New Year skins though. Chinese Dragon Corki is a pretty big example.

I thought the whole point of the Olympics is that it's international?

I mean, are there any first world countries that don't participate?

Yeah I'm kind of scratching my head at the Olympics not being international... I didn't realize there was only USA and Canadian flags when looking at the medal standings... That white one with a red dot in the middle must be a State flag of some sort then?

well long story short, the China got humilated at the Bejing Olympics because Bejing is a cesspool of pollution and filth, and even though they put some fabreeze on it to cover the stink so they could host the games, they didn't fool anyone. Therefore those Olympic games is a mark of shame for the Chinese Overlords so they won't associate anything of theirs with the games until they utterly dominate one year at which point they will do Olympic Skins to showcase their "greatness"

This conspiricy theory has been brought to you by Professor Nekko, though the pollution part is true... that city is filthy
