Volibear is a poor-man's tank. Yes, he does do quite a bit of damage for a tank, however, you must consider his initiation methods. The bullock has to literally run into the enemy to even do anything. That makes initiating 10x harder, unless you are losing terribly against them.

Voli has long CDs and with only a Warmogs, the only real damage he has is his execute. As someone else said, if he can 1v5 you or be a big enough problem than you guys can't handle him, then it speaks more about your team than it does about the Volibear. Why didn't the Jayce peel the Voli off of Ashe? And where/who was the support?

Also, going 0/3 has nothing to do with being a terrible player. What was the Volibear's CS at? That's a better indicator because if a champion is 0/3 and they have more CS, they can and will make a come back since they're still getting gold.

tank w/ no effective taunt / major disable (his throw is cute but too short range to do much as he tries to rush a front line). just snare him and ignore or introduce him to liandry's teemo and LAUGH

You must know a champion's weakness in order to defeat him, regardless of his skill or score. For example: playing against a Katarina when your team has very little ways of interrupting her will be devastating.
