something like ability deals x1/x2/x3/x4/x5 (+0.4/0.5/0.6/0.7/0.8) magic damage

it seems like their are a lot of creative things you could do with this.

I've always wondered why this hasn't been implemented.

That would actually be a pretty good idea for mana-hungry casters who need the mana regen to start and don't get AP until later. Would probably be OP end-game though.

Tristanas explosive shot does this I think.

I think each tick of the dot gets a small ap ratio, and the duration increases with level.
(Or maybe I'm crazy and the ratio per tick shrinks with each rank >.>)

OP? mages dominate the early and mid game but by late game many mages damage starts to dwindle compared to the survivability of their opponents or their so weak they get killed with little effort in 1 second. If balanced right it could result in keeping a mage useful way late into the game (or it could just result in more archangel staff stacking).

OR. They could do .8/.8/.8/.8/.8 and not worry about confusing people with scaling AP ratios.

Are people to simple minded to wrap their heads around an increasing ap ratio? worst case scenario is people go: "wow I'm dealing a **** load of damage. wonder why?"

Yeah, the only way that's logical is for the ratios to start lower than normal and end higher than normal, because otherwise, you're better off just having them sit at a higher ratio all game.

This can lead to fed casters being too huge end game.
