So i'm an old DotA player who now plays league. just wondering who can get the highest crit in the game. please leave out stacking abilities (i.e. nasus, sion, veigar). If possible, show math please.

Just so you didn't waste your time here, highest possible crit in DotA is a lvl 25 Mortred (phantom assassin) who does 8743.5 damage with 6 divine rapiers + passive ult. that's a 37.2k build. not squishy tho, cuz mortred has 35% dodge as a passive ability, as well as stealth (reverse eve, only stealth when within 1600 of enemy), blink gapcloser/escape w/ AS steroid, and ranged slow.
math:
6x divine rapiers = 300x6 AD = 1800 AD
Base AD at lvl 25 = 143
Total AD = 1943
ult (coup de grace) = passive, 15% for a crit of 4.5x normal damage
crit damage = 1943x4.5 = 8743.5

sorry for the wall of text

When Thresh comes out, he'll have to be added to the list of champions with stacking abilities to leave out.

Caitlyn is a pretty good pick... but I think Riven could possibly top Caitlyn with her passive just because Riven's passive could let her auto-attacks deal significantly more damage. A Riven with an Infinity Edge and five Bloodthirsters vs Caitlyn with the same build? Or would Caitlyn do more damage with an Infinity Edge and five Manamune's?

Anyway... here's the base attack damage for each at level 18..

Caitlyn: 98
Riven: 100.75

Now, with five fully stacked Bloodthirsters and an Infinity Edge, they're each getting another 570 AD. That puts Caitlyn at 668 and Riven at 670.75.

There are critical damage runes as well as attack damage and scaling runes... uh, if someone wants to run through the math for these two champions on all possible sets, that's fine... but I don't feel like doing it.

Now, Riven can also use her ultimate to gain 20% extra AD. So let's take her AD * 1.2. That's 804.9.
Caitlyn has no such ability to improve the damage of her auto-attacks.

Now, neither champion's passive is effected by whether or not the attack is a critical strike. So let's figure out how much damage a crit would do without the passive.

For Caitlyn, it's 668 * 2.5 (because Infinity Edge), so 1670.
For Riven, it's 804.9 * 2.5 (again, IE), so 2012.25.

Now, let's tack on the passive damage.

Against a champion, Caitlyn would do 1670 * 1.5, so 2505.
For the record, against a minion/monster, she'd do 4175.

And Riven's passive adds 50% of her bonus AD to her auto-attacks. So... Riven's AD (804.9) minus her base AD (100.75) comes out to 704.15. Half of that is 352.075. Added to her 2012.25 comes out to 2364.325.

So, Caitlyn's crits do indeed hit harder than Riven's, whether against champions or minions.

It's probably worth noting however Riven with this build would absolutely out-damage Caitlyn with this build.

In dota? Depends on the hero, as in any moba.

Armor is far more effective (and expensive) in DotA, though. Each armor point is roughly 6% EHP, so you can quite feasibly get 8-10k EHP against physical attacks, if not much higher with an end game build.

However, a carry is far, far stronger in DotA overall.

Also, PA doesn't have stealth anymore. They changed it. 6 DR would just die instantly to anyone, lol.

EHP can be ridiculous! stack HP and armor on cenataur warchief (8k hp, somwething like 12k ehp), and you can take down their fountain (nexus turret) by trading hp (similar to olaf e). prbly the only champ (and maybe ursa warrior) that can withstand a fed mortred.
